What makes you think that the interpretation is correct?
By testing the spirit, if it agrees with scripture. Not all tongues can be interpreted, God is of peace not of confusion.
It may even keep the church in check to prepare for the kingdom of God which is at hand.
The day of the lords return and judgment can come at any moment. Since the time of acts we have been in the end times, the church should not be so proudly divided, edification is meant to stabilize the church and many are falling away as it is, keep what you have and be prepared.

Nothing is divulged or revealed that is other than a confirmation of some Scriptural passage, then?

But either way, that doesn't mean that the interpreter actually is interpreting anything; he could just as easily be paraphrasing some Bible passage that he already knows ...and the congregation would then think that it must be a genuine interpretation.

It may even keep the church in check to prepare for the kingdom of God which is at hand.
Give me an example of that, if you don't mind.

To your knowledge, HAS the day of the Second Coming ever been revealed through an interpretation of tongues?

Do you hear the spirit of God speaking? If not then this discussion is pointless. We are talking spiritual things, not physical although anyone who has spoke in toungues or heard a message in toungues and knew it to be true would ever question the moving of the spirit on people

If you follow my posts you will see that so far I have visited the Pentecostal church twice. So if you are asking for verbatim of a translation I cant help you with that now.
The experience I had is confirmed in scripture 1C14:23, and I dont believe the gifts have ceased since Paul says never to oppose or discourage a man from speaking tongues, its a sign from God for unbelievers, why would anyone question it?
Jews at the time sought for a sign or a miracle, but they got something else instead, Jesus describes as coming "like a thief in the night", which in my case it was, I was being judged when I least suspected it, totally caught off guard and it worked beautifully, again just as described in 1C14:23, Now, with that being said, where does scripture say that this will not continue to happen again? Its mentioned several times that there will still be signs, and it will happen again, that the life giving waters are free to anyone who comes. When did the miracles cease? Charity -healing by gifts of the Holy Spirit, are NEVER to cease, but where there is prophesy shall it come to pass, tongues shall quite, but the Charity given by the Holy Spirit shall overcome and never cease. It will be given freely unto the ends of world until all is judged, just as Paul described about the unbelieving bystanders in the church, but on a global scale we will all come under Gods judgment. Those who remain on standby will not be ready, the gifts were never meant to cease.
God said their will be mockers, fake workers of miracles, speaking blasphemy and disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. The fakers of tongues and fakers of miracles are fooling the world of the true gifts of God, its heart breaking.
They are robbing the Church of its gifts.
Before that which happened to me I despised every church and denominations and after that which happened to me I love every church of our God, and I see here why you are so turned away from the gifts, because the fakers made it look like rubbish.
Churches love each other, stop the hate, Protestants and Catholics are of the same church of God and of the same spirit, condemn eachother no more.
Spread these gifts like fire.
The greatest commandment is Love and God is near

Because we know that many of those who claim such a gift are mistaken or even pretending. I would think that anyone would approach this with the same care as they would if the subject were an alleged appearance of the Virgin Mary at the foot of one's bed or believing that the bread and wine at communion literally change into the physical flesh of Christ while remaining as bread and wine to all our senses. People want to believe miracles have happened to them. Some times they have, but in many instances it's not genuine.

As for tongues being in accord with scripture, that's not entirely accurate to say. What can be said is that tongues did happen in the early church, but even you admitted that what happens today isn't the same as those. In any case, the appearance of these gifts 2000 years ago in no way settles the question of whether the many claimed instances of tongue-speaking these days are always and in every case genuine.

Jews at the time sought for a sign or a miracle, but they got something else instead, Jesus describes as coming "like a thief in the night", which in my case it was, I was being judged when I least suspected it, totally caught off guard and it worked beautifully, again just as described in 1C14:23

You uttered sounds that you didn't expect and felt close to God as a result. That was in a church that promotes the practice. I'm sure you wouldn't have done the same thing or experienced the same outcome if you had been in some other church.

That doesn't mean that what you experienced was a gift from the Holy Spirit. It could have been, but there's no reason to conclude that it's so.

Now, with that being said, where does scripture say that this will not continue to happen again? Its mentioned several times that there will still be signs, and it will happen again, that the life giving waters are free to anyone who comes. When did the miracles cease?
Well, we do know that they did cease, at least as a standard practice in the church. That's history. But about 200 years ago, the idea of these gifts being a sign of the Second Coming was talked up in a few churches, so people started doing it.

Before that which happened to me I despised every church and denominations and after that which happened to me I love every church of our God, and I see here why you are so turned away from the gifts, because the fakers made it look like rubbish.
Actually, that isn't a significant part of what I'm saying. I know that there are fakers. However, I believe that most charismatics are sincere. But so are people who really do think that they hold audible conversations with God each night. That doesn't mean that they actually are doing what they believe they are.

Churches love each other, stop the hate, Protestants and Catholics are of "the same church of God and of the same spirit, condemn each other no more.
Spread these gifts like fire.
I would agree in principle and I do appreciate you saying this. Others here seen to have delighted in condemning the majority of Christians simply because they do not agree on the matter of tongues.

Colossians 3:12-17

12*Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves*with compassion, kindness, humility,*gentleness and patience.*13*Bear with each other*and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.*14*And over all these virtues put on love,*which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15*Let the peace of Christ*rule in your hearts, since as members of one body*you were called to peace.*And be thankful.*16*Let the message of Christ*dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom*through psalms,*hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.*17*And whatever you do,whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks*to God the Father through him.

I must interject here concerning your intention to "spread these gifts like fire", for you see, that is man trying to do the work of the Spirit and when that happens it is not of the Spirit. It is up to Him to decide who gets what gifts and in what increments and whether they are to be kept or not and these gifts are always for one thing and that is to lead man to Jesus.

Paul wished they'd all speak in tongues. A personal prayer tongue is not a gift only some can get. Noone knows how to pray. The Holy Spirit wants to help everyone pray. And if you don't pray in tongues how on earth can you intercede for hours or pray w out ceasing?
I don't get how some preachers pray in tongues yet don't even pray for their members to receive it too.

You could use English. Thousands of Christians do. Monks for example.

And it seems for some 1800 years, Christians ONLY prayed in their own actual native language.

For hours? When I pray in Dutch I'm ready in 5 minutes.

?? You wrote that you don't see how anyone can 'pray without ceasing' unless he's praying in tongues. Well, lots of people do--and they are praying in the language that they normally use. Did I misunderstand what you were saying in that post?

No you understand, I can't pray without ceasing or fervently for hours in Dutch or English. I can pray Bible texts, list names of ppl who need to get saved, that's about it. Lord save..... open their eyes etc. I can't fill hours with that. An hour maybe. Jesus said: Can't you pray with Me for an hour? That was not in tongues.
Otherwise I'd just start to repeat myself.

Did the New Testament give any proof that those who spoke in tongues could pray longer than others? Paul says to pray without ceasing but he never said that a gift of tongues gave such an ability.

For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. 16 Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say? 17 For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified.

18 I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all

The word (utterance), in both the Bible and elsewhere, just means to speak forth, often with a certain emphasis.
