I'm really not a huge fan of croissants...as in I don't think to buy them, but if I'm at a pot luck and the option for sandwiches is to grab a croissant versus a slice of bread, then I'll opt for the fancy croissant.

What do I like with them? I guess they can go with any food and sometimes sandwiches are made with them, but in my experience, they are often "stand alone." Good ones don't need any butter.

A good one can be gently warmed and eaten on its own. I don't think I've found one that is particularly good on its own when not warmed at least a little.
