I've been re-reading Knowing God my J. I. Packer. I'm definitely getting more out of it this time.

With respect to Christian fiction I would highly recommend the 19'th century author George MacDonald. His best known works are fantasies, especially Phantastes. He is considered a premier writer of that genera and was a major influence on CS Lewis and Tolkien. His non-fantasy Christian fiction is overlooked outside Christian circles but includes some of his best writing and was highly regarded in the 19'th century. You can Google his novels which are widely available. If anyone wishes additional information on his novels and short stories please let me know.

I would also recommend Francena Arnold and Christmas Carol Kauffman two twentieth century Christian authors.

I'm re-reading "The Jesus I Never Knew" by Philip Yancey. I've found him to be a challening author in that he provokes (for me) an initial skeptical reaction, but makes me ponder his points

Pilgrims Progress !! That book is one of the best books that I've ever read.

I had never heard of the book and a knock knock knocking came at the door, and there's some guy holding up the book. I've always liked to read and when he gave me a spoken preview it sounded interesting.

So the story goes that John Bunyan is the Author and wrote it way back when (1600's?) when he was in prison. After he was in prison for 10 years...he had a dream. And the dream is the book. And that sounded interesting so I coughed up $35 to buy the book.

Highly recommend it, never loan it out! Lol. I'll say only this because no spoilers! It is the adventure that a freshly reborn christian man that takes off walking in search of God. He gets into so much adventures, wow!
