It would be no surprise that vast crowds of people came out in a Sabbatical Year to be baptized of John the Baptist and follow Yeshua. This was not only a time when a great percentage of the people would have been free of agricultural duties and able to travel at leisure following the great teachers around Palestine, but it was also the Sabbatical Year when many of them were expecting Messianic signs to occur as the Prophecy of the Jubilee would excite the thoughts of freedom, freedom from slavery, from Rome, etc.
