So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Got a pile of laths taken out back and burned. I had one pile upstairs that I hadn't brought down yet, largely because the space I was using to stack them downstairs was about as full as I was comfortable with. So I laid a tarp out on the ground and threw them out of the window, then took the...

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

Who said death had to involve suffering? You know, a quick bolt to the head and it's over in an instant. It can be done right. There's a whole section about it in the Bible. You know, because God apparently forgot what he was doing. So animals can be guilty? Curious. Maybe I'll put them on...

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

Sad to say it looks like Paul was some kind of bumbling halfwit as well... 1Co 10:25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience' sake; You'd have thought someone so mightily used by God would have known better than to say something like that. Perhaps God...

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

"Suffering and death". You don't need both to have meat. But wait a minute. Doesn't God hate killing animals? You said so yourself, repeatedly, posting the same tired stuff again and again and again. So are we allowed to kill animals or not? Either there are exceptions or there aren't. You...

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

I hope I won't burn eternally for letting my cat catch and kill a mouse. You know, I could have intervened or something... For that matter I hope I won't burn for eternity for setting mouse traps to protect the food in my pantry.

    What do the elders do?

At the Baptist church I attended until I moved away from the area the elders (along with the pastors) were responsible for spiritual leadership and the deacons were responsible for more secular leadership. If you wanted prayer or spiritual guidance you'd call an elder. If the roof was leaking...

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

Not all meat is procured through suffering and death of animals. There's more and more of a push to treat animals more humanely. Partly because it's the right thing to do and partly because the end result is that the meat tastes better.

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

So you're plucking verses from one book to deny what God said? Good job. You can accuse me of twisting all you want but the facts are plain - people sacrificed animals to God (as commanded by God) and God was apparently pleased with it. Plucking a verse here and a verse there changes nothing.

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

You're avoiding the question. As soon as you say my conscience is superior to Scripture you lose any right to say my conscience is wrong unless your opinion is deemed to be superior to my conscience. I don't need to pray with honesty - Scripture is pretty clear that we are allowed to eat animals.

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

If you just want to endlessly repeat "thou shalt not kill" as if killing anything is forbidden why stop at animals? Think of the suffering of the poor carrot as it is ripped out of the ground, away from the only environment it has ever known, because some arrogant creature who considers itself...

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

Why would you say my conscience is seared? You can't say that my subjective conscience trumps objective Scripture but then make external value judgments over my conscience. The problem with your initial statement is that if our conscience trumps Scripture then we basically get to do whatever we...

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

But what if I do have inner peace? Unless I'm missing something you seem to be saying your thoughts are superior to my conscience here. What even defines "sinning" if, as you say, our conscience can trump Scripture?

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

So if my conscience says it's OK to kill the person who insulted my wife what should I do? It brings me peace to picture this particular person lying lifeless in a coffin. Should I go ahead and kill them? I know Scripture has a few irritating things that seem to say it's a bad idea but you...

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

Having a personal conviction to do (or not do) something specific is perfectly OK. If you feel, for whatever reason, that you do not wish to kill an animal you have every right to refrain from killing animals. The problem is that the OP here is telling people that it is unlawful to kill...

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

Ding ding ding! And we have a winner.... if your argument falls totally flat due to being utterly devoid of merit you get to play the "your idol" card and act as if anyone who disagrees is following some other God. Bonus points for endlessly quoting an irrelevant verse.
