    Your favorite road trip snack

It's always possible. I really liked the regular beef, maybe the cheddar just wasn't to my taste. For the longest time Arby's was the only fast food place my wife and I would stop at on a road trip. After a few bad experiences with totally wrong orders and dismal quality we stopped going...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

More progress on the house. I finally managed to figure out how to get the insulation blower home. It took my wife and I taking both cars to collect the thing, which was just as well because it didn't all fit in one car. I took the blower in the back of my car and she took the barrel of hoses...

    PGA verses LIV

You do indeed get all those things. Personally I'd rather walk in the woods, but that's me. I've seen some really nice golf courses, mostly in the context of using public paths that passed through them. I used to live not far from a golf course and often rode my mountain bike along the (public)...

    PGA verses LIV

I can't help thinking of the quote (I think it was from Oscar Wilde) that golf is a good walk spoiled. It seems like throwing sticks to a dog when you don't have a dog and have to go and get the stick yourself. But then I used to enjoy watching the Tour de France while other people find very...

    Your favorite road trip snack

I don't care for the cheddar as much, it feels like it makes the sandwich much messier to eat and doesn't add enough flavor to make it worth the mess. We have an Arbys that's maybe 15 minutes away but we haven't been there in ages - we'd often drive down and get a shake and then drive the back...

    Your favorite road trip snack

Anything I can eat with one hand without making a mess. My wife hands me whatever it is while I'm driving, so I need to be able to take it and eat it without taking my eyes off the road for any length of time. If it's sticky or messy I don't want it, because I don't want to be driving with gunge...

    The first thing you drink

Usually orange juice. I drink that while I'm waiting for my coffee to brew. If I wake up thirsty I drink a glass of water before I even leave the bedroom, although that's not a very common thing.

    Does your church address racism?

Where do you sit if you're a racist transgender Native American who identifies as Hispanic?

Car wash or do it yourself

When my car gets dirty I wait for a good rainstorm and park it outside.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Yeah, it's said that death is nature's way of telling you to slow down. I wasn't concerned about anything quite so drastic but was concerned about the potential effects of overheating. Maybe I'll get another run in tomorrow if the morning doesn't warm up too fast.

USA When are they going to de-throne our illegitimate usurping president?

The party of diversity will almost certainly throw out the non-white woman who would ordinarily be the obvious candidate if Biden doesn't run again, and presumably go through the same rigmarole of gabbing on about diversity as they shake out the pretend Cherokee, the gay man, the black woman etc...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I did a 3-mile run yesterday. I planned to run 5 miles but the heat became stifling to the point I was concerned I was pushing past "difficult" and potentially into "dangerous" if I kept going. So I stopped and walked the last two miles instead. The forecast for today has been very variable but...

What is one thing from your house

You'd probably want an extraction fan rather than a ceiling fan. Get rid of the smell rather than wafting it around so everybody can enjoy it....

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

I'm not talking about old tools like big band saws, I'm talking things like taps and dies that are so rusted as to be useless and don't even make good decorations. I've seen people using vintage hand tools as wall ornaments - I had someone offer to buy an old hand saw I have hanging in my...

    Favorite Sunday School Memory

There's quite a big difference between bashing Christianity and bashing individual churches. Some churches deserve to be bashed. Some churches deserve to be shut down. If people can't cope with being questioned it's hard to see how they can cope in the real world at all. Presumably anyone who...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

I guess, it's just disappointing when so many local markets feature little more than junk. It's one thing to go around a market thinking there's nothing there that really appeals to me. At least this one didn't leave me thinking I've thrown away nicer stuff than the people are trying to sell...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Went to check out a local flea market with my wife today. It was disappointing, a few people selling some interesting stuff but an awful lot of junky stuff. What really confused us was a vendor we've seen at craft shows who makes some really nice stuff, but her really nice stuff was overshadowed...

    Favorite Sunday School Memory

If the thread started in an area he isn't allowed to post he couldn't reply there. You might have noticed the first sentence in his original post. Bashing the church based on past experience isn't necessarily comfortable for Christians to hear but unless we acknowledge where the church has...

What is one thing from your house

A ceiling fan would be nice. I'd need a lot more headroom though....
