    A P O C R Y P H A : Included in every Holy Bible from the 4th century AD to the 19th Century AD

Hey, we may be getting somewhere. First it was that a majority of the Fathers believed in the Apocrypha and said so. We've gradually gotten that down to Trust me; some Christians probably heard something from the Apostles and "often quote(d)" from it, and that made it into the Bible. Good grief.

    A P O C R Y P H A : Included in every Holy Bible from the 4th century AD to the 19th Century AD

So,....having claimed that "It’s not just a few church fathers, it’s the majority" you are now defending that claim by arguing that, well, you know of ONE! (?), Clement?? The point, as I explained before, is that the majority of Christians may be Catholics or Orthodox, but claiming as you did...

That's not true either. And what you wrote earlier was this: and this: and this: All of that is baseless, even fantastic, but I asked you if you'd try to provide some evidence if what you wrote is what you believe. You have none. Shall we just move to another topic now?

Adding the part about selling indulgences isn't inherent in the Maccabees passage, but this passage is still the main proof text used by the Roman Catholic Church for the existence of Purgatory itself.

    It is finished

I'm not the person you addressed, but here's the answer. The Hebrews spoke Aramaic at that time in history as also did a lot of other people living in the Middle East. The notion--completely without any evidence--that Jesus had to have used Hebrew as his first language simply because he was...

LOL I'd love to see you try to show that whopper to be true with any evidence.

That may be your personal "take" on the meaning of that passage, but the church that invented and still teaches Purgatory makes that passage one of its main proof texts for Purgatory. For just one example, see the following in which Second Maccabees is referred to as the place to start when...

Which churches actually have done what you describe here? Or shall I say, "Do any?"

-- only to the extent that they belong to the handful of churches which consider them to be part of the Old Testament. Those people themselves have, in most cases, no familiarity with either the contents of the Apocryphal books or with the long-running controversy that surrounds the Apocrypha.

    John 10:33

As Lamb said, Jesus IS/WAS God, so of course the Jews who are mentioned in this case were wrong. More important, however, may be the fact that Jesus did not equivocate in the face of their questioning, which is something he could not do with any integrity if he actually was a prophet or an...

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

Not in any words. And as has already been noted, Jesus himself encouraged the killing of animals (under certain circumstances, of course). To my mind, that's God giving us his guidance, but to say that I also have to think that the Bible is divine revelation as it says it is, Jesus is God in...

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

Yes, it was your claim. God never said that killing a catfish, a coral snake, or a mosquito is "murder." That was just your own personal guidance system at work, whatever it might be.

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

So, there's nothing special about the Bible, huh? And what's so special about Jesus? There have been plenty of teachers saying to be kind and honest.

From what source do you pick up your own standards of right and wrong, then?

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

Many would say that we are compelled to follow our consciences. NO ONE should argue that whatever we think our consciences are telling us is, therefore, what God has decreed. Yet that is the awkward and unsubstantiated argument we've been hearing here...augmented of course by the claim that...

    A P O C R Y P H A : Included in every Holy Bible from the 4th century AD to the 19th Century AD

Yes, but there are a number of different reasons. Included would be the fact that Jesus never quoted from or cited anything from that source as he did with other books; the Jewish authorities were divided as to the nature of these books which, after all, are claimed by advocates to be part of...

    A P O C R Y P H A : Included in every Holy Bible from the 4th century AD to the 19th Century AD

The opinions of a few ante-Nicene fathers do not Christian doctrine make. And as I noted in the previous post, you referred to the 1611 AV of the Bible that was produced by the Church of England which had already officially decreed that the Apocrypha was not Holy Scripture and not to be used to...

Is it LAWFUL to kill animals?

You've intuited that God somehow condemns the killing of animals, and this is a belief that is contrary to the Word of God, as many of us here have shown you repeatedly. That's what I was referring to and I think you knew that. In addition, no Christian should flatter himself by assuming that...
