    Decision Theology

Okay. You'll probably be interested in the history that's involved there with Cromwell, the Civil War, and the Interregnum, etc. but the WCF has no standing in Anglicanism, and you apparently assumed that it does. I have read a few comments from individual Evangelical Anglicans concerning their...

    Pay before you pump?

Unless a person is intent upon filling his tank to the brim, paying by cash in advance of the pumping can be more satisfying than running through everything that using a card at the pump often requires. For a 5c/gallon discount, I'm quite capable of walking into the office and paying, then...

Nevertheless, the WCF is not one of the accepted, official credal statements of the Church of England or the Anglican Communion or, for that matter, any of the independent Anglican churches in the USA that I am familiar with, nor even of the Reformed Episcopal Church. Sorry.

    Dispensationalism

You said that you covered this in posts 72, 76, and 80 and criticized everyone who didn't reply. The reason they didn't respond is because you didn't do the first thing in any of those posts to explain "Dispensationalism." There is such a viewpoint about the Bible that has been attractive to a...

I'm not quite certain what you are addressing there, but yes, the Church of England is also referred to as the Anglican Church. And then too, daughter churches around the world are also referred to as Anglican. As for creeds, the Westminster Confession is not an official Anglican credal statement.

So, predestination is part of your thinking and explains at least somewhat the reason for the replies that have not connected with me. I guess knowing that is a gain. As you know, Baptists come in many varieties, so others of us here don't want to make too many assumptions in advance. ;)

    Decision Theology

What you are referring to is God's eternal plan of salvation. And it may also refer to some sort of election or predestination, if that is one of your beliefs. What it does not refer to is the process by which humans appropriate Christ's saving work on the Cross. The idea that Faith is just...

    Decision Theology

What I see here is you altering the idea we have been discussing. At first it was this: In other words, a non-believer accepting Christ has been "deceived" into thinking that he has been saved by believing in Christ as his Lord and Savior. Now, it's this: I simply find no basis for thinking...

You're disconnecting Faith from salvation, then?
  10. Albion

    Dispensationalism

You've simply created your own personal definition of "Dispensationalism," then. But you haven't admitted to it until well into the discussion. IMHO, that's a routine that should be avoided.

Jesus was referring to himself in that statement made to his Apostles (i.e. the kingdom of God is in your midst...and yet you guys are looking elsewhere!). So, there's no way that this verse proves anything about the claim we've been dealing with--altar calls, and so on.

None of us disputes that. Sure. No. Strange reasoning IMO.

    Decision Theology

A person must be a committed Christian prior to hearing the Gospel and having it impact him...as, for example, in a church meeting at which an altar call is issued following a sermon with Gospel readings? ? But if so, what's the purpose in sending missionaries to foreign lands, there to preach...

Why is this diversity not worrying Christians?

Then those churches could be replaced on the list by others. The reason I chose those as examples was, in part, because they are so prominent. When you ask "What churches teach it's okay to get an abortion?" it sounds as though you think there are none, however, but there are plenty. The...

I'm surprised to have you stay with this answer because there are many people who have testified that they were invited to such a gathering by a friend, or perhaps went there out of curiosity after some initial introduction to Christianity, or even that they happened upon a telecast by someone...

    Dispensationalism

Well, if that history about the Jesuits is correct, then it probably is fair to call the information a lie. But who believes it and disseminates the lie in our own times?? That would seem to be the more important question. And the answer to it is that Protestant radicals believe it. Mainstream...

    Decision Theology

Whoa. While it's true that there are many churches and camp meetings, etc. in which altar calls take place, resulting in hardly anyone going forward for the reason that they are already believers (that's why they're attending)... it's also true that there are many people who were not believers...

Why is this diversity not worrying Christians?

If you wish. Let's use some other example. Surely, we all can agree that every criminal offense is not considered by the law or by ordinary citizens to be of the same degree of severity as every other one, ergo some crimes can rightly be described as major and others as minor. Unfortunately...

Why is this diversity not worrying Christians?

It seems clear enough to me and to most Christians. And there are a number of Bible verses that support the conclusion. So, no offense intended, but this idea of God sacrificing himself TO himself, if that's the alternative, doesn't seem persuasive. Hmm. So you would like to see verses that...

Why is this diversity not worrying Christians?

I'm aware of the doctrine, but what I dealt with in my reply to your previous post was much more than something that could be compressed into two words and dismissed out of hand like you've done here. I was talking about justice as well. No, I didn't.
