Yes, I agree. I did not think it was about toting a bible around and proof texting one's way through the world.

    Theology thread.

I agree. But I think that some will not agree. People from Catholic Answers use the passage as part of their theology of the Church's teaching office and even papal infallibility and Church council infallibility. Absolutely anyone? I would think that for doctrine and important matters of...

It means quoting the bible to people? Is that all?

What are you eating? - Part 2

I am breaking up minced beef for my pasta sauce. It has diced tomatoes, garlic, port wine, onions, and chillies so the minced beef is slowly warming and becoming easier to break up (it was still a bit frozen).

USA Guns, gun control, and rights.

Violence that needs physical contact is much harder to do than shooting from a 32nd floor window at a crowd hundreds of meters away. Trying physical violence on the 32nd floor against a crowd a few hundred meters away is going to be very ineffective and probably rather frustrating. Of course I...

    "Holy Laughter"

I suppose one could type "hahahahahahahaha hahaha hehehe hohoho hahahaha hohohoh hahaha hehehe hehehe hahaha hohohoho ..."

Okay, so you think it means what exactly for people living now?

    "Holy Laughter"

Is online holy-laughter possible in a text only environment?

    Theology thread.

Good idea. But the current issue is not Catholic versus Protestant. It is you asked for theology from the bible so tell me what you think Luke 10:16 is teaching. I think that Protestants have Luke 10:16 in their bibles same as Catholics do. No snowballs needed.

    Gift of Tongues

You ought to visit my parish church then. There are plenty of people from disadvantaged minorities in our congregation. That's why we have such an active Saint Vincent de Paul society and our of local care service to help people get to appointments and do their shopping with them and help pay...

    Theology thread.

Well, you managed to quote some verses among which was the one I asked about - in your quote it reads [16]Then he said to the disciples, “Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me.” so...

Go up, thou bald head! :D

Rather an overreaction though. Mauling 42 children to death seems rather severe punishment for a tiny bit of verbal mockery. I imagine that if bears had guilt they'd feel guilty about killing 42 children just because they said "neyah nehya you're bald and fat and stuff!"

USA Guns, gun control, and rights.

I see, so you're claiming that gun laws that restrict the availability of guns and the type of guns that are available do not reduce shooting incidents but that laws that restrict the availability of street drugs and laws that regulate the number and kind of swimming pools that can be installed...

    Gift of Tongues

Isn't that a different thread where you finally managed to quote some verses for yourself? Make up your mind about where you're going to complain and where you're going to do verse posts :)

I read the passage - in fact the whole of the gospel according to Luke - before I quoted the verse.

    Gift of Tongues

So basically you're unwilling to quote a passage in your own post and think I ought to quote something for you instead of you doing it for yourself? You've got to be kidding. We're chatting. I am not your servant. If you think some extra verses are needed in addition to "Whoever listens to you...

Nothing. Can't you quote whatever context you think is needed? Surely you know the context yourself, right?
  18. MoreCoffee

    Theology thread.

Nope, you wanted bible verses and theology in this thread. Luke 10:16 is a bible verse. It teaches some theology. Or it looks like it does unless you say it doesn't. So what does "Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me, and whoever rejects me rejects the one...

USA Guns, gun control, and rights.

Is that like the logic that says fewer back yard swimming pools leads to fewer children drowning in back yard swimming pools? Or that fewer drugs being available on the streets leads to fewer people using drugs bought on the streets? You know, like saying that fewer guns in the hands of the...
