Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

Our conversation started with your statement: (post #523) "t may be worth noting, however, that the uber-Calvinists who believe in predestination overwhelmingly offer OLD Testament verses in support of their belief, which means that they are basing their conviction upon the situation of mankind...

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

Here is what you said in post #553... "All right, but surely you agree that the Law was given by God to the Hebrews for a reason and that obeying it was understood by them to be the way that they could be saved." True. Waaa? I gave you lots of proof texts in my last post, especially out of...

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

Let's try this again... Galatians 3:15-17 KJV Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. [16] Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of...

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

And the long list in Hebrews 11? Hebrews 11:17,20-24,32 LSB By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was offering up his only son, [20] By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even regarding things to come. [21] By faith Jacob, as he was...

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

The law was to be obeyed...by Israel...they failed... until Jesus...who fulfilled all righteousness...in our stead, and now offers that free gift of righteousness through the Gospel, apart from which no man could be saved. For purposes of the Gospel, the law is a schoolmaster to bring people...

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

I agree, predestination is clearly spelled out in the NT, why someone would resort to the OT for proof texts beats me.

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

Actually, the Law was meant for the Jewish nation..."Hear O Israel the Lord thy God is One...etc."

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

Could you please give one or two OT examples? The situation has always been the same, where 'the just shall live by faith'. The law governed the Jewish nation, the Gentiles were governed by their conscience. Men were reconciled through the work of Christ; faith appropriated Jesus and His work...

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

Incidental or not, still, you made this claim below and I was curious if you have any backing for it? (from #523)

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

That's fine, but Albion's point was that 'uber Calvinists' resort often to the OT for their proof-texts on predestination. I was looking for some passages these so called Uber Calvinists use. I didn't see any biblical passages at all in that article, just Apocryphal type material.

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

I'm not even aware of OT passages verses that speak in terms of 'predestination', instead, I am aware of such as Eph 1 and Romans 8 and 9. (maybe I'm just not uber 🙄 enough )

    Dandelion instead of tulip?

The cactus. It's plentiful in this region and perhaps is best at self defense. (rabbits say 'ouch'). One flower that continually fails is the Daisy.

    Tribulation Trivia

I wouldn't think so because 'false religious faiths aren't thrown into the Lake of Fire... Revelation 19:20 NASB95 And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who...

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

Actually, it's Christ's perfect obedience (which includes His death) that satisfies His Law and Justice. My faith is in Jesus and Him crucified despite your continual miscaricarizations of what I repeatedly say I believe, and for that, you win the IGNORE buzzard. Now you are using the word...

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

Negatory good buddy... Romans 5:9 KJV Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. Galatians 2:16 ESV yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in...

Who is "him that justifieth the ungodly"?

Yes but Christ shed His blood for His Sheep in Time (during the Incarnation) and not in eternity. Faith is also given 'in time' because we're not eternal.

Psalm 25. It is quite intimate and the first one I learned to sing with v.2 as the refrain
