COMMUNION: Does "is" mean "is?" Catholic, Lutheran, Evangelical

Which church/denomination held to the symbolic view for over a thousand years? You do realize that Eastern Orthodox also believe in the Real Presence? The Baptists, although they try to claim they've been around all that time weren't really started until 1612 by Thomas Helwys. So please, go...

    Using Profanity -- Please read

There's nothing wrong with staff wanting members to control their tongues (so to speak) on this site. And you know that if we wanted you banned for any reason we would have done it by now. You probably realize we're some of the most merciful staffers around compared to the other sites you've...

    Using Profanity -- Please read

As Christians we wouldn't want to offend...so if we learn that a word is offensive to someone in another country we should want to not use that word. I won't use words that would offend you so please don't use words that offend me. Isn't that fair?

COMMUNION: Does "is" mean "is?" Catholic, Lutheran, Evangelical

I checked out a few of the references Matt Slick used and they're out of context...so...yeah. Plus, Real Presence is not equivalent to Transubstantiation so I think that most people don't realize that. A lot of people who believe in the Real Presence do not use John 6 as one of their scriptural...

Yes, MC left since there was so much Catholic bashing and his latest threads turned into anti-Catholic sentiments even when he was just trying to start discussions. Can you blame him? :(

You did not receive a "Warning" but a PM and it doesn't count against you. I'm not sure why you would leave the site instead of wanting to consider that others might be offended by what you say?

    Using Profanity -- Please read

This has been an ongoing issue for many months now and we're not singling out one person here. Since we're a Christian site we want to give the best Christian witness we can so as not to offend our brothers and sisters in Christ.

    What do Lutherans believe?

Lutherans use the bible and believe it, thank you very much. Have you looked into history? They believed in the Real Presence. It's only been since the Reformation days that "symbolic" beliefs on communion began to be spread.

    What do Lutherans believe?

I was hoping you'd point me to a site that used different wording so I could email them and call them out on it ;)

    What do Lutherans believe?

Using with and under are perfectly acceptable since, as I pointed out in the confessions it's stated that way. Is there a problem with that? I also pointed you to a pdf file that explained why the confessions used the wording that they did.

Your opinion of what Lutherans believe is not accurate. Go back and read through again please.

    What do Lutherans believe?

The ELCA churches won't be so reliable as you most likely know. They're turning away slowly but surely from what Lutherans believe although there are still congregations that are fighting from within to hold to the truths. The majority of the Lutheran church websites I've visited pull quotes...

    What do Lutherans believe?

The Lutheran Confessions use terms such as "under the bread" and "in the bread" and "with the bread" although under and in is more commonly used. They weren't introducing a new doctrine but trying to convey the mysterious sacramental union of Communion and as has been pointed out also deny what...

    the fruit of the Spirit

The significance of the qualities of the Fruit if the Spirit is that they are qualities that God has. We are called to be holy like God is holy yet we still live in this sinful flesh. We will always come across believers who don't behave in a godly manner but that doesn't mean that they aren't...
