COMMUNION: Does "is" mean "is?" Catholic, Lutheran, Evangelical

Jesus used unleavened bread and wine. He made no such conditions that you think should be imposed upon the communicants.

What does the Bible say about the Christian attitude?

How is your attitude as a Christian? Do you respond to questions with flippant remarks? Sarcasm? Flaming? Snide attitude? Holier than thou? What does the bible say our attitude should be as Christians? I know Paul spoke about how we should respond a few times in his letters.

COMMUNION: Does "is" mean "is?" Catholic, Lutheran, Evangelical

Was the Lord's Supper instituted with crackers and Kool-Aid? This do...isn't that what the Lord said? What did He hold up? Not crackers (although some crackers are like unleavened bread so this could be iffy). Not Kool-Aid (he definitely didn't have Kool-Aid in the cup). So if you're using those...

For RC and EO - What did Jesus' death on the cross actually achieve for you?

Could you maybe tell me again what Jesus' death on the cross achieved here again without the other stuff?

COMMUNION: Does "is" mean "is?" Catholic, Lutheran, Evangelical

They were celebrating the Passover before Jesus instituted His Supper, so Lutherans use unleavened bread and wine in Holy Communion. If you're looking to be legalistic about it such as percentages of wheat or whatever, Jesus didn't make such commands. He took the bread...He took the cup...

Can babies be conscious of their baptism?

You might think it's pointless. The point really comes down to does it matter whether or not the child is conscious for baptism to be effective since it's from God? As DHoffmann said, the thread was based on something he wrote in another thread about babies not remembering their baptism so I...

For RC and EO - What did Jesus' death on the cross actually achieve for you?

Thank you but you really haven't answered the question I was asking of "What did Jesus' death on the cross actually achieve for you?" You state that He died for all but that's it in mentioning the cross and what it accomplished. So perhaps you can delve deeper (still speaking to that gent in the...

Did Jesus use a lot of those things you mentioned? If not, then why would we?

Can babies be conscious of their baptism?

The problem is that you reject that Jesus gives the authority to the Church (not just to priests/pastors but to the church itself) to baptize in His name. And Jesus Himself used earthly means (mud) when He healed a blind man. So why would He not be consistent about earthly means (water)?

For RC and EO - What did Jesus' death on the cross actually achieve for you?

If you were talking with someone in a bar who asked what I asked, I seriously doubt you would pull out your Catholic catechism to answer. You would respond in simpler terms. Most people would. So perhaps that's a better scenario for you to follow to respond?

For RC and EO - What did Jesus' death on the cross actually achieve for you?

Pretend you're speaking to someone extremely simple minded. Could you tell it in simpler terms then please?

COMMUNION: Does "is" mean "is?" Catholic, Lutheran, Evangelical

You don't believe that the bread and wine are the body and blood so it makes sense that you wouldn't have any qualms about administering just bread and wine at home.

    Salvation

Believing that a God exists does not equate to faith. We can know from creation that there is a God but the Gospel of a Savior who forgives sins through death on the cross is foolishness apart from faith.

    Salvation

Believing because of faith is different than the believing that the demons did because there was no saving faith given for the demons...only to humans through Christ. So is believing enough? Absolutely. Is repentance something God does within us? Absolutely, because it includes faith to turn us...

    Salvation

Matthew 19:25-26 English Standard Version (ESV) When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” 26 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Hebrews 7:25 English Standard Version (ESV)...
