    Justification - Part 2

Are you making the suggestion that the specific works we do are "preordained", or that God has ordained us to walk in them (good works) generally)? Also, the word "preordained" does not show up in any version that I have referenced. Where do we find this?

Which decade had the best music?

80's were my preferred era. I listened to a bit of everything from the heaviest metal (some of it was pretty scary) to Pet Shop Boys, Tears for Fears, B-52's... I also loved 70's progressive bands - King Crimson, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Yes, Genesis Pretty varied.

    Bad theology perpetuated in songs.

Look - baby Jesus was born, it was sweet, he pooped, animals pooped, Mary was in pain and probably chewed out Joseph because he was giving moral support all wrong. The end. :D

    Bad theology perpetuated in songs.

I'll add Laura Storey "Blessings", and Amy Grant "Better than a Hallelujah" Somehow I don't think God wants our maudlin self-pity. Yes, we struggle, and yes, God hears us and cares for us; but when I'm being kicked in the teeth by life, I don't wonder "What if our blessings come through...

    Bad theology perpetuated in songs.

"I Win" - Clint Brown (*And, btw, I am not kidding about all the "repeats") No matter what the weapon is, I want you to know that I win (Repeat x4) (I win) I win (repeat x8) (Repeat verse and Chorus 3x) No matter what the weapon is, I want you to know that if I won’t doubt he’ll bring me...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 5

Watching the U.S. Naval Academy commissioning ceremony. My niece will be a commissioned Officer after today! :yourock: <--- She really does!

    Weird Books

Yeah, the 'Jihad' book is Joel Rosenberg. I started on it a few nights ago. Too early to have an opinion, but seems a bit cliche. We'll see. I had a book at one time on psychopathology, too, that looked at the lack of conscience and their inability adequately form an empathic connection with...

    Justification - Part 2

Then why does Paul use this language? There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

    Weird Books

"The Last Jihad" - it's a fiction thriller that my dad gave me to read on the plane the last time I went to see them. I didn't think it'd be appropriate to whip that one out thousands of feet in the air :D Also this one: It's not so much a "weird" book as it is one that's out of the norm. As...

    Justification - Part 2

Autonomous was a poor word choice. However, Adam somehow "responding" by breathing (suggesting a conscious effort to breathe) doesn't really align with basic anatomy. Breathing (taking breath in and out) doesn't require effort from us. Certainly there's the concept of a child holding his breath...

And you've shown this in the thread... where? Certainly not to those "Judaizers" (read: "Brothers in Christ")
  17. ImaginaryDay2

    Justification

All decided by you? Then God is not God as you've decided what his sovereign and ordained plan is, and walk in that in opposition to anything else that he may choose to show you. If one takes in and filters out what one decides on his own, then Jesus is not the Savior indeed

    Justification

According to you, yes. In other words, "What he (and you) said" ^^^Emphasis mine

    Justification

And the crux of the disagreement. A withdrawal of Grace (imo) would necessarily require continuing in that unrepentant sin. I'm not sure that during my time of resentment and turning away that Grace was withdrawn. The resentment was (perhaps) God contending with me all the more...?
