    I think this kind of thing (selling unnecessary items) is more likely to happen at a small independent garage than a dealership service center. You really never know though where and when someone will try to scam you like that. Even if you regularly check your taillights, you can't be certain it...

    I think the service charge should include at least the first hour of labor. I ask them up front what their policy is on this, and if they charge just to show up, and then are on your dime the minute they start working, I look for someone else. :)

    I won't argue that there aren't many things broken with our educational system, however just to state that too much is invested in primary/secondary education seems drastically misguided to me. We should probably look first at how this investment is being spent rather than reducing it.
