I guess you are referring to Islam in this case. The original mention of infidels is killing them in mekkah for they have slaughtered the muslim pilgrims. It is not based on other religions. Islam about christians : " and they are your brethren and from your families "

In Ortodox Christianity nobody can become a priest in the church unless he finishes 4 year long college where he studies the bible in depth and also other religions. The time he arrives there, he is strong in knowledge of the Bible and needs no help. It is not an easy college at all. I dunno...
