James Comey Book #1 on nonfiction best seller list NY Times

If she has devoted a separate chapter to each of the people or groups she has accused of having cost her the election, the book might have written itself (as they say).

James Comey Book #1 on nonfiction best seller list NY Times

That's understandable. I surely would not rush to buy it merely because the NYTimes chose to put it at #1 on its own list in order to sell copies.

    Trading Spaces

My feeling about Hildys work is about the same as yours. Overall, I liked the show back in the day, but now it looks rather ridiculous compared with all the remodeling shows that have come on the air since. I kind of wonder if the remake of Trading Spaces--with a new and unfamiliar cast of...

Roseanne Show To Be on This Tuesday on ABC

Yes, I thought of that. It might happen in this case, but I'm unlikely to watch more episodes hoping that it will.

Roseanne Show To Be on This Tuesday on ABC

I watched it and thought it was disappointing. Preachy, but not many laughs in the mix.

    I agree. Here's a little preview. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2018/01/09/roseanne-barr-defends-trump-says-sitcom-will-tackle-politics.html

IMO, The Bishop's Wife was a better picture and made the same points in a less saccharine way and with a better cast. I really do like it. https://www.miramax.com/movie/the-bishops-wife/ .

    New Sitcom - Living Biblically

I expect the lead character to seem silly and fanatical while all around him are level-headed and realistic atheists. Some of them will expose his beliefs as nonsense while others of them will be shown to REALLY, REALLY be people who lead the loving, caring, lives (no thanks to the Bible or...

    Help me understand 'Elf'

That's it in a nutshell. This film was made when Will Farrell was hot stuff, and the film was probably expected not to have a popularity extending across the decades--like "Ernest saves Christmas." But I think people found something charming about the misfit elf that gave this film "legs."

Martin Luther: The Man Who Rediscovered God and Changed the World, by Eric Metaxas

On the 450th anniversary of the Reformation, Time magazine called Luther the most influential person in Christian history for the past thousand years. It's hard to argue against that assessment.

    Drain the Hollywood Swamp

I was under the impression that this had been the verdict for years, just like the fact that he's gay. Yet, he supposedly just came out as homosexual in the last few days, as though that's supposed to be a solid defense against the charge of child molestation.

Yes, indeed. I just couldn't get the computer to work for me in showing a pic. That's a good one. Thanks.

Movies You're ASHAMED to Admit You Like

For my own nominee, I think I have to say "Somewhere in Time." the time travel by self-hypnosis is ridiculous, the scenes are almost all shot at the same place, the thing ends in a somewhat untidy way...but it's so darned charming. Or maybe that should be so saccharine.

Movies You're ASHAMED to Admit You Like

Love it! But I do think this film is powerful satire about a society that is shown in exaggerated form in order to contrast it with the main character. He represents someone who's fairly sensible (a la the average person of today) but who's thrust into a futuristic society that the Democrats...

I know, but if they're so mad now that they say they'll swear off watching altogether, I thought what I suggested might hold some appeal for them. I agree with you that under ordinary circumstances, it probably would not.

    The Sports Thread

I doubt it too, but my thinking ran towards what the fans can do other than just give up watching NFL games altogether. It's not an easy decision, since they could be upset with the NFL itself for allowing this sort of thing. In that case, there's not much wiggle room, but if it's the players...

Sayyyy, about this NFL protesting situation... Fans say they're through with the NFL, even though they've been big fans. But wouldn't it be better if there were a team--any team--that deserved your support instead of your usual franchise, now that the latter has gone bad? There is apparently...
