So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

I managed to get the radiator onto wheeled platforms, kinda sorta. It's not very stable and given it weighs more than I do by quite a margin I'd rather it was more stable before I try and wheel it. I set some pieces of old ceiling tile underneath it, in the hope that the middle of it would...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

I managed to undo the pipes from the radiator, and moved all the wood from the top of it so that's now stacked elsewhere. Now I just need to figure out how to move the radiator... Bible study group tonight, so it's not happening just yet.

Good foods and bad foods that change to good?

If something is natural it's probably better than something artificial. Eat things in moderation. I sometimes wonder how we survived as a species for so long without the experts offering their endless blatherings about how we should eat this much of this and so much of that and not have...

Your reaction when friend changes denomination/religion?

I've never really identified with a particular denomination so that wouldn't worry me, although I'd be interested to know what prompted the change. I suppose it would also depend on whether the person had specifically changed denomination or simply started attending a church that was associated...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

So far the work I did sealing some gaps in my latest work space seems to be helping a lot. There are a couple more gaps I found but it's hard to figure out how to physically get at them. I don't think many of them will make a huge difference but there is one I can mostly get at that will make a...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

If you have a lot of pregnant friends that's possible. I don't think we have any friends who have any expectations of pregnancy.

Should you convince a friend to seek therapy?

I don't know it's about "strong of mind", I think anyone can see it's like a pendulum swinging. The bit I find most remarkable is that politics has become so tribal people truly believe their party will make anything better. As it stands it seems a two-party system just takes money from the...

What are you eating? - Part 2

No need to save them. My wife and I had a friend over for coffee this morning and she made some muffins for the three of us. If you can get a tin of pumpkin you can make them. They've become a go-to for my wife to make so we can have them with afternoon coffee.

There is that. I'm not aware of any of our more regular guests being particularly heavy on the paper, but always best to have some in reserve just in case.

A couple of days of walking to give my legs a break from running. I'm hoping to run tomorrow if the rain holds off, but we're expecting 30mph wind gusts so it might be a challenge.

These are actually vegan muffins. You can swap the flour for gluten free flour if you need them to be gluten free. 1 cup pumpkin puree (NOT pumpkin pie filling) 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed 1/3 cup canola oil or other oil of choice 3 tablespoons maple syrup 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce...

What are you eating? - Part 2

I remember a few years ago my wife and I used to visit a small market. There were a few vendors there, including an Amish lady who sold mostly produce. Apparently the law said the eggs she wanted to sell had to be refrigerated, which prompted an emergency meeting for her church because they had...

We do much the same with toilet paper. During the fiasco we very nearly ran out before we were able to find any for sale, even if we were willing to pay a silly price for a single roll of premium toilet paper. Now we buy packs of 24 or 32 depending on what's available and when we open the last...

Nice. I sometimes find I'm tired enough that I sleep in my recliner and then don't sleep when I go to bed. I guess it's part of getting older.

Got another run in today. My legs didn't really want to play today so I took more walk breaks than I'd hoped, but it was my third 10k in three days so I figure I can cut myself a bit of slack.

I'm not sure what we're paying for eggs. I think they're around $9 for 18 of them. If the Amish are selling them for $4/dozen it's easy to see why they sell out. I'd just be a little wary because you never know how they've been handled.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I started out with a Fitbit but when my old One died and they didn't have anything suitable to replace it, and when they kept insisting that the one that didn't count floors was an ideal replacement for the one that did, I jumped ship. My wife had a Garmin that she loved so I got one like it. I...

I like to do that sort of thing too, fit the bigger stuff in on an otherwise cheap month so you don't get the sticker shock when the credit card bill arrives.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Got another run in today. A slightly shorter variation than yesterday - 6.4 miles instead of 6.6 miles, and a slower pace overall. I was probably 45 seconds per mile slower than yesterday because I wanted to take it a little easier. I had planned to take it easier still but still find a natural...
