What criticisms should we give our pastors?

According to Ephesians 4, we must speak the truth in love. That means we should compliment them when they do well and humbly share our concerns when they fall short.

Realizing you had stumbled into sin?

I started bowing before the idol of sports and TV at the age of nine when we got our first TV, because of the boredom of the farm. I became a Christian at the age of 16 but kept that idolatry as a rival to God until my first church where I was a pastor, when God convicted me of my idolatry when...

    Bless the Lord

Biblically, we praise the Lord for his many majestic qualities and his actions for his people; and we thank him for his many gifts of grace.

    Your Righteousness

Humans are often trying to claim credit for their faith or works to rescue them for heaven instead of relying 100% on Jesus' death and resurrection to get them there.

    Do you believe that ...

Yes, hate damages us; it is an infection that can result in death of our souls if it isn't rescued by Jesus. It seems to me that people who spread negative gossip about others have an insecurity that has to try to make them feel better about themselves. They need Jesus' rescue to realize that...

    Who is your enemy?

The devil and the demons are our real enemies, not humans, as Paul makes clear in Ephesians 6:10-20.

Sacred Scripture has themes, what do you think are the 4 or so main themes in it?

I don't know if these qualify as "themes," but here is my summary of the Bible's overall emphases: LAUNCHED like a boat with God's creation of humans. LOST in our self-centered rebellion, beginning with Adam and Eve. LOVED with Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. LANDED on the solid Rock...

    Ecumenical?

We all need unity around the truths of God's Word, but heresies should not be any basis for unity.

    We don't deserve God's blessings

Human nature has a desire to take credit, at least partly, for what it does. Instead of self-esteem, we need God-esteem.

    Is this bearing false witness?

I think so. It's just like a person who passes along negative gossip about people without checking it out with the people it is about.

    Anger a sin?

I think that it depends on the amount of self-centeredness that is involved in our anger. If we get angry at injustice for God's glory and not at the unjust person, leaving that person to God to judge, I don't think it's a sin. However, very little human anger is selfless; self is usually involved.

    Is God contained ?

Psalm 139 refutes such an interpretation of the Lord's Prayer. God is everywhere; yet his kingly presence rules from heaven with Jesus at the father's "right hand." Jesus has his body in heaven; yet he is also God, present everywhere.
