Is this bearing false witness?

Let's say someone posts something about a political candidate that was in a newspaper on social media...and it turns out that the newspaper was wrong about the information. Is that person bearing false witness by keeping the post up or not posting a retraction?

I'd say bearing false witness also involves the intent of defaming the person, Perhaps it's best to check out rumors and heresays before spreading the lie unintentionally.

If the individual knows the information to be false but chooses to keep the post up, they may be complicit in misleading others, as stated in Proverbs 6:16-19, which highlights God's disdain for lies. However, one must also consider the intent and context; if they are unaware of the falsehood, they may not bear guilt under the same scriptural standard.

I think so. It's just like a person who passes along negative gossip about people without checking it out with the people it is about.
