Groceries are put away. I found a few good sales on meat but not exactly what I wanted. There weren't as many sales overall for the 4th of July that's coming up next week.

I bought a bunch of frozen wild salmon and Alaskan haddock from costco the other day that are handy for summer as a side dish for whatever produce is in season. I just throw it into a Forman grill, throw together a salad and that's supper.

The George Foreman grill? I used to have one of those! I gave it to my daughter when she got her first apartment. When it was still at my house I kept it in the basement and would hide her Christmas gifts under the big lid LOL She never looked there!

Have a busy work day today with meetings and two sessions with clients. That's why I am on here because I have so much free time. . . .

Working my way through the material of a group program I inherited for parents of anxious kids. Thought the curriculum was all set up, but there's only the PowerPoint slides and off-center (photocopied 100x since original) handouts. No curriculum.
I'm learning curriculum development really fast! :D

Did it get lost over the years or did someone just think it would magically get done? LOL

The guy that had it before me had his way of doing things, and tended to go 'off-script'. He had his own format, and was very "zen" about a lot of it - guided imagery and such. So he had it down to a "T". I'm not "zen" in the least, so I'm going through the PowerPoints trying to make sense of how it's supposed to be.

I don't know what's up with the resources though. They're just sort of taken from a number of unrelated sources, photocopied, and stuck into PDF files. I'm going to recreate them, then figure out where they go in the sequence of the presentations :D

Oh, that is so cool!

It had a grease tray to catch the drippings. It didn't "smoke" though like any other normal grill so the flavor wasn't quite like a grill.

I turn the grease tray upside down and rest the grill on that to level it so that the grease doesn't flow out when cooking fish.

I usually buy cheap cuts or cuts that are on sale. But I don't eat a lot of meat dishes so I don't buy a lot of meat. In fact I currently have some frozen beef, minced beef, chicken, and bacon but I haven't defrosted any yet because I am not planning to cook any meat today or tomorrow. I have noticed that meat prices here are lower than they are for equivalent quantities in the USA. But the prices are not a lot lower. Our vegetables and fruit can be more expensive than in the USA but it varies so sometimes they are cheaper here.

It really isn't meaningful to think of prices in a huge country as if there were any consistency. Out of season a single green pepper can cost $1.50 at the supermarket but in season I bought a whole bucket of them from the grower for $3. They were that cheap because they were the previous week's harvest.

It'd be good for things like burgers and dogs, maybe. Keep the steaks and ribs for the real thing.

I spent some time today talking with the team leader. A lot of the program has been the same for the last eight years, and apparently has had some 'tweaks' since then, but not a real update. So I don't want to re-invent the wheel, since the TL developed most of it, but just bring it up to date. I'll get some input from their treatment team as well. We also have a couple of counsellors asking about bringing it into schools in the district, too. So maybe it can be a separate contract with the schools to do that, idk... I'm trying to preserve the money in the contract with mental health as much as I can. When it's spent, it's spent.

Looking forward to getting back to the renovation project, had a few days where I just didn't have the time to spend getting dirty and dusty.

Next steps, finishing the wall wrecking (specifically the bits I need a ladder to safely pull down), prying off a few more window trims without wrecking 100-year-old oak, and figuring out how to remove the baseboards when someone laid new flooring (that is probably going to get replaced) against them. I can't pry them off the walls because the floor is in the way and because they are nailed in it's not as easy as removing screws. I think what's going to end up happening is I'll pry them part way, then get a hacksaw blade behind them to cut the nails so I can lift them out, then pull the nail stumps out.

I also need to figure out which insulation option to go for. Extruded polystyrene is the cheapest but also quite flammable, other options offer slightly better insulation and fire resistance at a much higher price, and the one I really quite like the look of offers much better insulation, superior fire resistance but at about twice the price and it won't be available for probably 6 weeks.

Tonight I took the turn off to the Inn. I've past the road many times, but never ventured down it. The path was a fairly simple and relaxing one, and come tommorow night, I can experience the Inn's finest and featured product: The Green Dragon Special, after the Inn's name.

Right now at the grocery store green peppers are a dollar each. In the Midwest they're probably 79 cents each. A bit cheaper. We should have a produce price thread ;)

There is a big Amish sale place very near to me and I find the prices there to be much better than the stores. I also go to an Amish farm in season to buy corn. Also can green beans.

I don't even look at the price in the grocery store, still got the last few bags from last year in the freezer. I bought a gallon of blueberries for $12, which I was happy with.
