I think its time I said this please stop throwing bible verse's at me I'm so done with it.. I am not bitter about any friends I have lost in the past and there seems to be a doubt I'm telling the truth to.. I am not lying about this pair of women they are nasty and not what I thought a christian was supposed to be, but then again who really is ..

I have nothing to forgive them for they made there choice so did I . And that's the end of it.. I just walked away from them in the end as they just wasn't worthy of my time anymore.. you can take that anyway you want to.. I give up on this thread.

Really. Jo, the Bible verses are for all of us, not just for you sis.All of us are learning how to live better lives according to the teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All of us get angry when people do us wrong. All of us have to learn the correct way to forgive. All of us need forgiveness. All of us have been hurt by someone. I think this thread on forgiveness is great because we as brothers and sisters in Christ are sharing our experience, our strength, and our hope with each other, and hopefully learning some skills in how to deal righteously with our hurts. I do understand though if you don't want to explore it any further. But I hope you will change your mind and at least read, even if you don't post. I was taught that burdens shared are burdens halved. We are your friends sister. I don't think anyone here is trying to hurt you.We are hopefully helping each other. :shake: :)

I am sick of being treated bad. Pretty much all my life. It's even made it hard to trust in God, because it's like just one more that I believe in that's going to turn on me in betrayal/denial and withdraw any hope or love that was promised or believed in.

Over and over and over ppl just turn a cold shoulder, it amazes me how cold and calculating, merciless and unforgiving ppl can be, and then when you hear about God's love, it's like, 'Yeah, yeah, sure ... Heard it all before'. It's similar I guess to someone with a bad or mistreating father all their life, then being told you have a father in heaven that loves you, it's often hard for some to believe it.

I understand the situation, ~Jo~ ..... I can relate. But I have to continue to seek to have God's forgiveness in my heart for those who treat me cold and pray He keeps me from being that way. His mercies are new every morning, but alot of ppl seem to not be interested in that, and even seem to enjoy sabotaging love.

God's Word is there for us for a reason.....He loves us and wants us to know Him and how to love Him and each other. I can't even imagine how unfriendly, cold-hearted and hateful this world would be without God's Word and the restraining influence of His Holy Spirit. Look how it is even WITH that, and like you said, ~Jo~ , even among those that say they're believers. It's a reminder to me that I can do much better myself, and I'm trying and praying to be.

I find that much perpetaration of hate is disquised as Christianese. Is it good to wallow in pity ... no. Manup or womanup to the fact that God is not the lies that someone believes and start believing the fact of who you are in Christ. To allow those thoughts to continually bring down to satan's level thoughts about the care of God, assassinating His character I just don't find to be in good form.

No one shows mercy because he has to. It just happens, the way gentle rain drops on the ground. Mercy is a double blessing. It blesses the one who gives it and the one who receives it. It’s strongest in the strongest people. It looks better in a king than his own crown looks on him. The king’s scepter represents his earthly power, the symbol of majesty, the focus of royal authority. But mercy is higher than the scepter. It’s enthroned in the hearts of kings, a quality of God himself. Kingly power seems most like God’s power when the king mixes mercy with justice. So although justice is your plea, consider this. Justice won’t save our souls. We pray for mercy, and this same prayer teaches us to show mercy to others as well. I’ve told you this to make you give up this case. If you pursue it, this strict court of justice will need to carry out the sentence against you.

I believe that with the measure you dish out that you will also receive. I'll brace myself. And God's character can take care of itself no doubt. Mercy over justice is a fact and I am not condemning those to whom mercy is due, but rather those who do not allow for truth.

Some of this is true. Some is convoluted.
But in any event, God's mercies are new every morning, but sadly many peoples' are not. That's understandable with the unsaved. For the saved, it ought not be so.

I agree Brighton. And Jo that verbal diarhea I displayed was not aimed at you but rather at those who find comfort in the lies of something not from God. Not mentioning any names here.

Anyway, g'morning :_)

My post is a modernised quote from Shakespeare's play The Merchant of Venice, it is Portia's speech before the court when Shylock brought his case there.

That's a bit divisive, don't you think?
Why not just talk to the brother or sister for edification, rather than shoot a bent arrow?
What believer would purposefully take comfort in the devils lies anyway?

Ahhh, modernized Shakespeare. Thanks, now I don't get it in TWO eras, lol. There was just a marathon with old Richard Burton Shakespeare movies on recently. I watched some, some was pretty good, but some of it left me going Hunh? But thanks for clearing up the post. (For a minute, I thought they just came out with yet ANOTHER bible version already, ;) )

Catholics do not produce very many English Bible translations. :)
