Does one need to know anything, anything at all, to be received into heaven?
Who is the 'one' you refer to?
Also, Who owns heaven, and Who receives the 'one' into it?
He would probably be the one to ask.

If, by the question you mean, 'What must I do to be saved?'
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.

Can you 'believe' something without 'knowing' it?

Ultimately, getting into heaven (like so much in life) is all about WHO you know rather than what you know ... his initials are JC. :)

Yes that you have to repent from your sin, ask Him to forgive and cleanse you, that God raised Jesus from the dead and maybe some other things, forgive those who sinned against you, believe Jesus is Lord.

What you say appears to be true for most people but what about people who are severely mentally damaged?

'one' is a neuter singular form of a personal pronoun in English - "it" would work (in theory) too but in English applying "it" to people is regarded as very rude. To call a person an it is insulting so I wrote "one" to leave open the possibility of a he or a she or any other pronoun that applies to a single person. "one" can also be used as a substitute of "anybody" without having in mind any specific person. Thus when you ask "Who is the 'one' you refer to?" the answer is "anybody" - any individual person.

Same thing but they need some help and prayer maybe. Corrie ten Boom spoke to kids who were dont even know a normal word for that in English, but they understood nothing. She told them about the stars and explained it with beans and they thought the stars were beans, but when she said Jesus loved them and told them the gospel they understood everything. It's for little kids the Kingdom, so God can explain it to anyone.
But the man of the Garadenes first needed to be set free.
I saw a man on a video. He was married but left one day to the woods, walked around there carrying a tree, got aggressive when they approached him. They just set him free first. Then he accepted Jesus. That preacher said those people can't do it themselves, we must help them. He was completely normal afterwards, had been gone for 10 years or so.

Hearing and believing = new birth. And then the human spirit agrees with the Holy Spirit that it's saved. A seal is placed on that heart now made of flesh and sin nature is remembered by God no more. But our sins make us think we aren't saved and can make us miserable if we don't receive daily cleansing in His blood received at the throne of grace which we boldly come before in prayer.

Justification: IMO, it's not WHAT we need to cognatively know/comprehend but WHO we need to "know" (in a relational, trusting sense)

Since John the Baptist had faith even before he was born (and thus likely not a high IQ), I don't think IQ has anything to do with it (or age). I see no reason why a person with "severe mental damage" would render God impotent.

IMO, yes. Indeed we trust a LOT of people/things that we don't comprehend..... Consider gravity; everyone trusts it but even most Ph.D.'s in Physics will admit they don't fully comprehend or understand it. The point of a few Chrsitians on our knowledge rather than God's grace can undermine the chief doctrine of the Christian faith, namely, that JESUS is the Savior (and thus not self), what "saves" is found in Jesus, results from Jesus, done by Jesus.

The threads are related, but only tenuously. My intention in both threads is to promote discussion about grace and what (if anything) is a prerequisite for receiving it.
