Liberality is about being generous.

Some say Liberals like to be generous with OTHER PEOPLE's money.... Tighter than can be with what THEY have, giving away what they take from others.

But it's not true. Liberalism is about making people dependent on them not helping them.... it's about getting and keeping power. See the opening post.

The Lord counselled that his followers ought to be generous [SUP]Matt 19:21[/SUP]. Worldly wealth is meant to serve humanity not to be greedily accumulated by a few while many live in poverty. [SUP]1Cor 5:11; 2Pet 2:3; Deut 15:9 Psalm 72:4[/SUP]

So how much money of the CLINTONS did Hilary give away? Pretty much nothing. Instead, she and Bill set up a tax exempt agency to get money from OTHERS that THEY could then give away (often money from very questionable people). I remember when Romney was running against Obama - and both released their taxes: turned out the conservative Romney gave about 20% of his CONSIDERABLE income to charity whereas Obama was close to zero. Typical.

Liberalism is not about helping people, it's about keeping them down and dependent. See the opening post. Liberalism is not about giving THEIR money, it's about spending OTHER PEOPLE'S money.

Amen!

I think we should be inspired (including by Big Government) - to be all we are Called to be. It should be realistic (we ALL can't be Justin Bieber - nor should we be.... we ALL can't be super models or Babe Ruths) but in accord with our gifts. And I'm a very big fan of educational scholarships to those who NEED such to fulfill a good PLAN. I call all that uber-conservatism.

What is liberalism is telling everyone they are victim, cursed by society that has raped them and rich people who are the boogy man! They can't succeed cuz the world's again' 'em. They can't help themselves but not to worry, Superliberals are here! They NEED the government to shelter them from mean people (basically anyone who is rich or Christian or conservative). They NEED the big breast of Government to daily feed them what they deserve cuz they have a RIGHT to it (because Big Goverment SAYS they do). Make 'em as dependant as possible on liberals and government.... for ever and ever, world without end, amen. Because THIS is how liberals get and keep power over them. THIS is how you grow government.

Well, I am centrist in ideology, neither liberal nor conservative but a little of both. Politically I am an independent because I can see some good in the Democrat thoughtand some bad, likewise I see some some good and some bad in the Republican thought. I have seen some people get left behind that just needed a little guidance and maybe a lift. People call them lazy, shiftless etc. My foster daughter was one who just needed someone to tell her that she could do it. I just wonder what would have happened to her had she been left in a home where she was told she was worthless and that she would never amount to anything, where she was sexually molested by her stepfather. She is a lawyer with license to practice in three states. She is an assistant magistrate judge, and she recently won local commissioner's seat. There are many, many people/children who are in these types of situation that do not have someone to come alongside them and pick them up and maybe carry them for a while. They don't have someone to encourage them to be all that they can be. The devil is busy beating people up. But people have to know that God loves them and that He has a purpose for their lives, and that they are of great worth. So, I have some deep feelings about what it means to be salt and light to a hurting world. I can't go into everything I think here, but I do think this discussion that Christians need to have..I like this song. It says When Jesus says yes, nobody can say no.

If you've got a homeless guy who is a trained plasterer, for example (I met just such a guy on the streets of London) it's far more useful to him to help him get cleaned up and put him to work as a plasterer, than it is to simply chuck him some change and keep walking. Throwing him some change may feed him for today but gives him no self-reliance, no self-pride, nothing.

I don't know if I can articulate adequately my thought, but I will try. I agree with your thought Tango 100% but, it goes deeper than just putting him to work and putting clean clothes on him. It goes much deeper, much, much deeper, and I think so many people miss it. The deep soul wound has to be healed in order for the man to even feel like he is worth something. I know of a guy who was very gifted in stone work, but, he got on drugs, lost his work, and was derelict. We were doing a project where we were renovating a house for a family. This guy came and did the stone work on the fireplace. He did a beautiful job. I did not know him personally but I admired his work. Later, after the project was over, I heard his story. He died shortly after the project was over. I heard that he got clean to work on the project, then he just went back into his drug use and overdosed. That was painful for me to hear. How often do we hear "What a waste.?" I often wonder what would happen if people learned how to be their brother's keeper. Throwing money at a problem does not always work, but it does help sometimes.

I don't have a problem with people being rich. I do have a problem with rich people hoarding their profits and not paying their grunt workers a living wage. I think God has a problem with that also because it is written

James 5:3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. 4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5 You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.NIV

Yes and the rich man and Lazarus, but if they say that they're socialist or liberal and then get such an insane income, come on, that's just stupid. Oooh we're so social and then earn as much as a capitalist. I'm not a socialist, also in the middle, but we have a socialist party here and at least they practice what they say. They earn much less than other politicians.

What I find so weird in America is the choice between christian and not social or liberal, not christian but they take better care of the poor and the sick.
We have a right party. It's unchristian. The lefts are also unchristian. The tiny christian party is in the middle, pro Israel, anti abortion etc., but also social for the elderly, sick and jobless.

How exactly does pointing a finger at the Clintons abrogate the teaching of Christ? The Lord counselled that his followers ought to be generous [SUP]Matt 19:21.[/SUP] Worldly wealth is meant to serve humanity not to be greedily accumulated by a few while many live in poverty. [SUP]1Cor 5:11; 2Pet 2:3; Deut 15:9 Psalm 72:4 [/SUP]

It doesn't. It's just one example of how liberals often do not give THEIR money - they TAKE money from others and redistribute it.

How does that support liberals taking money from others so that they can give away the money of OTHERS? How does that support keeping people down, dependent?

How does giving ALL residence of France (rich, poor - doesn't matter) $800.00 per month (paid for by taxing robots) how does that result from what Jesus said?

How does Bernie Sanders' idea of free college for ALL (including Trumps' kids) paid for by (he doesn't think this matters - billions just APPEARS from another dimension to liberals), how does that flow from what Jesus said?

Isn't Jesus talking about HELPING people who NEED it? With your OWN money and resources (not stealing it from someone poorer than you)? Doesn't the Bible say that he who will not work should not eat?

It's not stealing. It's something people vote for, how they live because they think that's handy. Either your tax money goes to drugaddicts who are unwilling to work or to some stupid war or project on Mars. That's life. Give to Ceasar what's his. It's fake money anyway my son told me. The banks make money that doesn't even exist.
The church doesn't do it like in Acts, so the govt does what they think is best and no worldly system can be that good.

For a chap who chats so much about sola scriptura Josiah sure is unwilling to address what the holy scriptures teach about the poor.

The first known currency was created by King Alyattes in Lydia, now part of Turkey, in 600BC.

There will never cease to be some poor people in the land; therefore, I am commanding you to make sure you open your hand to your fellow Israelites who are needy and poor in your land. [SUP]Deut 15:11[/SUP]

Care for the poor is a responsibility of the well off

When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap to the very edges of your field, or gather the gleanings of your harvest. You shall not strip your vineyard bare, or gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the alien: I am the Lord your God. [SUP]Leviticus 19:9–10[/SUP]

When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be left for the alien, the orphan, and the widow, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all your undertakings. When you beat your olive trees, do not strip what is left; it shall be for the alien, the orphan, and the widow. When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, do not glean what is left; it shall be for the alien, the orphan, and the widow. Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I am commanding you to do this. [SUP]Deuteronomy 24:19–22[/SUP]

For six years you shall sow your land and gather in its yield; but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, so that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the wild animals may eat. You shall do the same with your vineyard, and with your olive orchard. [SUP]Exodus 23:10–11[/SUP]

There's a warning about rulers and their greed

And so, Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people, who had petitioned a king from him. And he said: "This will be the right of the king who will have authority over you: He will take your sons, and place them in his chariots. And he will make them his horsemen and his runners before his four-horse chariots. And he will appoint them to be his tribunes and centurions, and the plowmen of his fields, and the harvesters of the grain, and the makers of his weapons and chariots. Likewise, your daughters he will take for himself as makers of ointments, and as cooks and bakers. Also, he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your best olive groves, and he will give them to his servants. Moreover, he will take one tenth of your grain and of the results of your vineyards, so that he may give these to his eunuchs and servants. Then, too, he will take your servants, and handmaids, and your best young men, and your donkeys, and he will set them to his work. Also, he will take a tenth of your flocks. And you will be his servants. And you will cry out, in that day, from the face of the king, whom you have chosen for yourselves. And the Lord will not heed you, in that day. For you requested a king for yourselves." [SUP]1 Samuel 8:10-18[/SUP]

Perhaps you didn't notice that God is the one commanding that the well off make provisions for the poor. God gives laws about how to do it. God is rich, right? God demands that the well off give gleaning rights, forgotten sheaves to the poor and once every 7 years give the produce of the land to the poor. Perhaps you also didn't notice that the King would demand taxes in money and in kind. He would pay his servants with the taxes. He would enrich himself also. The king makes laws and the people obey them or are punished for disobeying them. Tax laws are part of the curse of having a king. Presidents and congress are kings in the Earth. If the king makes laws to tax for the benefit of the poor then it is part of the curse of having human rulers rather than having God as king. Tax laws command that the poor be cared for in a liberal democracy. Regardless of the method the end result is the same God commands that the poor be cared for.
