So all this talk of flat earth...and then on a dedicated page, I discovered this (actually just the pic with the guy and glass jar/plant - then I found this pic later):

Guess what Strav did today?

Started my own small terrarium for some broccoli sprouts! I used a pretty large jar with a rubber seal on the lid. Once it starts going, I'll let it dry just a little then add nutrient water to the soil.

Mine would turn to mold if I tried it LOL

Why not try it?

I have 2 going now, and one of them was a failure. The sprout shriveled - so it's apparent that my ecosystem either got too hot or there wasn't enough water. It's not incredibly hot here, just mild - and the only Sun they see is morning sun - other than that it's indirect light.

I'm not giving up though. The idea of 0 maintenance plant growing system is extremely appealing to me.

Right now I am thinking about chopping onions and chicken and adding diced carrots and peas and corn and some capsicum and then cooking the same in vegetable stock with some spices and serving said cooked chicken and vegetables with rice and Satay sauce. :)

Today we celebrated Santa at my sister's house and now my house is full of toys.
My nephew makes virtual reality games and we saw a whale in the ocean. It was fun.

Strav, have you seen this link on some helpful tips for closed jar terrariums? http://www.instructables.com/id/The-Basics-of-Closed-Jar-Terrariums/

Thanks for the link. However, I'm not growing moss, I'm growing vegetables so I can't assume the water/light/soil composition needs will be the same for both and will just have to tinker with it until it works good. I'm using lentil sprouts now and plan to rework the other container. It's only been about a day and a half, but they are surviving the environment.

Stick with Eric Dubay - his stuff is quality - on this subject. I don't agree with some of his other positions, but the stuff on Flat earth is pretty solid. I've already seen on youtube some people who are apparently currently trying to muddy the waters by saying some really stupid things, like that the moon is a hologram and other nonsense. It's clearly an attempt by some to deliberately make the issue look stupid. Hopefully it will be seen for what it is by most.

Fighting a sinus headache. I think it's from walking in the woods and smelling the pine trees and the mold from all the rains!

Saturday we had a Santa party with my sister and I went deep see diving and saw a whale very close who blinked his eye at me and almost hit me with his tail.
Then I put off the virtual reality glasses.
