Do you think that the bible tries to make women appear inferior? Are they ever treated as equals?

They are - under the Law - classified as if they were property.

Not in the O. T. Jesus treated them as equals.

Jesus was remarkably good to women in his time.

In John 4 Jesus spoke with a Samaritan woman and yet shouldn't have had anything to do with her since the separation of Israel (Old Testament).

It's interesting how many times and in how many ways Jesus acted contrary to the kind of conduct that his contemporaries believed was old testament law and custom.

That's because his contemporaries probably were unaware how law driven the people had become that they missed the point of why the law was given and took it to the extreme it wasn't supposed to be taken? People still do that today in some groups!

Women - prophets, judges, warriors, leaders, negotiators, ...etc... It was wise to listen to them.

Judeth is canonical holy scripture, she was (obviously) a woman.
