I think we should respect our life and therefore our body and health. While I'm not obsessive about it, I do very much consider what I put in my mouth in terms of calories and nutrition. I've never had to watch my weight (for most of my life, I was underweight) but I keep that in mind, too.
As for details, I think just good, wholesome, not-overly-processed is good. I'm not into vegan or glutten-free or any of those things. I just try to keep basic nutrition in mind. I tend to avoid sweets mostly (mainly because I'm just not that big a fan of desserts) and snack foods - but I can be a hearty eater at the 3 main meals. I'm not a big meat eater too (although I like a burger or steak or prime rib) - but I include it, just rarely a huge portion. I like fish and salads and in my single days ate a lot of that; I've broadened my menu since getting married. If I have one questionable eating habit - it's wine. I like wine. And I'm not opposed to some nice scotch. Empty calories, I realize. But I've only been drunk a couple of times in my life (it's ALL it took!), I've only done the binge thing once (ditto above). So I doubt I'm harming my health - as long as I watch the amount and count the calories.
Good food is good for you.
