Well, Jesus is God so we can't say God since George specified in the first sentence to not say Jesus (and He's God).

I don't think there is a correct answer to the question actually. But a close answer would be John the Baptist since Jesus said there is no one greater (Luke 7:28, Matthew 11:11).

You're right in that the mother/child bond is very intimate and important. Mary, as the mother of God was highly blessed. As far as most important, besides God, I don't think there is one true person since any of those we state would most likely humble themselves and declare themselves not as important

I said that after the Lord Jesus Christ it is Blessed Mary who is most important in the bible because God chose Blessed Mary to be mother of the Lord and the whole of history from the fall until the incarnation was a process of selection leading to God's choice of Mary as the Virgin Daughter of Zion through whom Messiah came.
