After Jesus, so please don't say Jesus. My teacher had us do this in the form of March Madness for Bible class.

Well, Jesus is God so we can't say God since George specified in the first sentence to not say Jesus (and He's God).

I don't think there is a correct answer to the question actually. But a close answer would be John the Baptist since Jesus said there is no one greater (Luke 7:28, Matthew 11:11).

Proximity to the Lord makes for importance right? Who is closer to the Lord Jesus Christ than his mother?

John at a point when he laid at His bosom and His mother thought He was nuts and He said: who are my brothers and mother?
If I read John I think he was the closest to Him from the disciples. Moses maybe. Ah well who cares? He told His disciples to not fight about it after only 3 were allowed on the mount with Him.

Exactly, it is like you can only have one chip, the bible is a whole book and should be taken that way

And John the baptist was Gods instrument to prepare the way for Him and the disciples lived with Him for three years and learned many things, they were instrumental in establishing the church so is one more important than the other? I think not, perhaps in your denom maybe biut not for most

You're right in that the mother/child bond is very intimate and important. Mary, as the mother of God was highly blessed. As far as most important, besides God, I don't think there is one true person since any of those we state would most likely humble themselves and declare themselves not as important :)

I think that for each it is individual. It would be the one that God uses to speak to you in His word

I said that after the Lord Jesus Christ it is Blessed Mary who is most important in the bible because God chose Blessed Mary to be mother of the Lord and the whole of history from the fall until the incarnation was a process of selection leading to God's choice of Mary as the Virgin Daughter of Zion through whom Messiah came.

But without Adam no Mary or Jesus, well I mean not as Man.

Mephibosheth. Jesus said that the last would be first and Mephibosheth described himself as "a dead dog", and in placing himself so low gets flipped so high :)

We are.. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall have everlasting life.

When this happened in my class, it came down to Mary and John the Baptist. I had just about the whole class against me, with them supporting John, and I was supporting Mary. I emphasized that Mary gave birth to the Savior and without the birth, that was the predecessor to the Cross and the Tomb. I ended up winning with my argument, and this was at a Baptist school, but it was said that Mary was the most important after Christ.
