As Christians should we have an open mind?
In church we want to receive God's Word so having an open mind there is a good thing.
But we are told to watch out for false doctrine so having an open mind might allow bad theology to seep in.
What do you think?
I used to be too open minded. I like closed minded now. Not good, all those false teachings and discussions on forums, legalism, but I also learned some good things from it. I remember I had this discussion with an atheist who said I had 3 Gods and I couldn't answer him, because all we heard in church was: God is 3 and also One. I don't understand it one bit but I believe it.
I was really confused because of what that guy said who was friends with an ex christian who had become Jewish and mocked everyone until he got a ban. So I had to know and my church was not gonna help me. I found Dr. Brown wow. I thought a combination of a Jew and a christian must know all about it. He debates Jewish rabbi's. Ha later that guy came again who had converted to Judaism with his mocking comments noone could answer, but then I could answer him and ask him questions he couldn't explain. What Michael Brown said, God's Shekina was in the temple, so why not in a body? And I found a book from a great great great granddad who was Jewish and found Jesus in the O.T. So looking back I'm glad I did listen to that atheist, but a whole lot of discussions I'd better not even have read. Just good milk without poison is better.
On the other hand too closed minded isn't good either.
