Lol last year for a whole week I had no internet in the holiday park. It costed 5 euro for an hour. I did it a few times, when I had to use internet. Didn't even shake. I'm so glad cf and recently christian chat forums banned me. I posted there whole nights.

What I really need to do is rip down every single wall in the house and replace them all. Just about everything is the old lath-and-plaster (i.e. horrible stuff) and lots of general updating is required. I've seriously wondered whether it's worth undertaking the project at all or whether we'd be better off just moving. But we rather like the house, so maybe we'll rope in some guys from church to help me with the huge amount of drywall I'm going to have to put up.

Not quite, the fundamental structure of the house is sound, just a total renovation from top to bottom. Not going to pay a contractor to do it because I need it done in my own timeframes and don't care to effectively give a contractor a blank check to do work when I can do most of it myself, even if I do need a little help with some parts of it.

A good chunk of the cash cost is labor, a good chunk of the general aggravation is having men in my house at times that suit them rather than the times that suit me. When I'm doing the work myself I don't have to start at 7am and don't have to finish at 4pm. I can also go out for a while without worrying whether the workmen are going to steal the silverware (even if the silverware is metaphorical!)
