Well, there's always numbing cream that people use. But it depends how badly the person wants the design done...

Sure, for me the answer is "not at all" :)

Some Christians who want a faith based one, Bible verse, etc. would reckon the discomfort is part of the price.

If that's what people want I won't stand in their way but, like I said, I won't stand in line behind them either...

Both my mother has an ankle tattoo of the word Jesus on her left since 2002. My niece also got a cross tattoo over last summer I think.
PS: JPPT1974:So do their tattoos ever lead them to opportunities to talk about the Lord?

So are your sons themselves old enough to consider ink yet? if so, do you think they might get a similar sort of tattoo depicting their mom? :)

No, I got one in the service when I was 18 and now dont really think about it but I would not do it again

PS:

bill1231: So did you ever consider having the tattoo removed? or do you just regard it as part of you past?

I have two tattoos. The first one is on my upper left arm. It is a cross made out of my daughter's name as the vertical bar and my son's name as the horizontal cross bar and they utilize the same letter where they cross.

So is this a recent development? :) and have either your daughter or son acquired any ink themselves yet?

How about you?

How about you?

Sounds like your daughter is ink-free so far, then!

(The Oriental design on my arm wasn't a success; it soon faded.)

I guess we all have a personal story, and with many ppl ink is a small part of it, regretted or not, right?

My daughter got a little one on her foot about a year ago. I don't think she's interested in getting another one.

So both your children are tattooed, the daughter as well as the son. It used to be that it was a man thing, but in recent decades it's become very much a womanly thing to do as well; and apparently 59% - 70% of parlor clients in North America today are female.

So I guess you were neither greatly surprised or disturbed when your daughter as well as your son got injected with ink, right?

.. One is a Celtic cross. ..other include a portrait of my sons, a Celtic knotwork design of four dogs as an armband, a jackrabbit and a very old rose tattoo. Future plans include a Celtic whale, more knotwork, maybe a green man, a V with a leaf, and Lone Peak, if things go well with a race to the top this fall

PS:

Mountain Girl 406:

Sounds like you have few or no regrets about your tattoos, borne out also by the fact you want more!

Thanks for participating in the poll!

Do you know about numbing cream? this can help with ppl who don't like needles.

So have you thought of a particular Bible verse that you would like done?

From a pragmatic point of view, a faith based design is a proven as a means to start conversations. Even if the thing in itself does not bring blessing, many Christians seem to feel that pragmatically it works in witness situations.

Let's say hypothetically the message you are sending is wrong, have you thought about that? If you are before the judgment throne and asked why, what would be your 'concrete' response. The reply founded on faith and scriptures. If you were wrong, would you accept responsibility for all those you influenced? Just hypothetically.
