Does Satan give power to men?

I thought I'd start a new discussion here after reading some things from the Do Atheists pick on others thread.

Does Satan give power to men?

Absolutely, remember when Jesus was tempted, one of the temptations was to give Him all the kingdoms of the world

He could but he wouldn't do it. Adam gave it to him. That's why Jesus came to take it back.

It's the other way around. People give him power to use them if they bow down to him.

The bible says he is prince of the air and that this is his domain. The catch is that he can do nothing that God doesnt aloow or the bad can be turned to good but the fact remains that he has power and so do his demons or fallen angels if you will

How about Exodus 7:11-12

Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers, and they also, the magicians of Egypt, did the same with their secret arts. For each one threw down his staff and they turned into serpents. But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs.


Was this just a trick, sleight of hand or something more?

It shows satans power and the power that is Gods to overcome it. Pharoah was a type of antichrist and it shows that we will need Gods power with us to defeat it

So you're saying Satan did give them power?

I'm not baiting. I'm just not sure where I stand on any of this.

satan is a fallen angel a highly annointed cheribim so yes he has power, to deny the power of evil is to deny that there is the power of good

Even full strength Satan's power is weak in God's Presence. Yes, Satan can give you all kinds of power, deceptive, delusional, devious, detrimental, deadly, dangerous, destructive....

What did Satan do exactly to earn all the bad press? From my limited understanding, he was a pretty tame character in your bible compared to god.

He wanted to part from God and be someone special on his own. He encouraged an angel revolution!

So, a free thinking angel who didn't fancy following the rules, created by god. Not wanting to rile you all but it was god that invoked a worldwide genocide by flood wasn't it? Apart from being a bit of a rebel, what was so evil about satan?

He wanted to place himself above God. It's like the vase saying to the potter that it could make itself even better than the potter could or someone making a wooden image and then saying that the wooden image was the god that did everything for them. Both ridiculous scenerios

If he's simply a vase to a potter why didn't god the potter just get rid of him then? Or at least revoke the angel powers he was given. I'm still unsure what satan did, apart from wanting to be more powerful, that warranted such hatred for him. Was he ever given a platform to explain himself? Did he ever speak and be quoted in the bible?

When I was just saved I was very mad at God That He didn't forgive the poor devil. Then He haunted me the whole day and I didn't care anymore.

The bible has passages that seem to allude to a time (unfulfilled prophesy) that pre-existed mankind when Satan and one third of the angels were banished to earth (think Atlantis) but they too messed up and the waters covered the earth that had become void. They were prolly so advanced that they had prepaid flights to other parts of the universe.
He regained the earth in the spiritual aspect at the fall to become the principality of rulers. His food is the dust of the earth so a change from material to spiritual is needed to overcome that.
