Accept Jesus as saviour thta is a choice we all make. Once we are His then it is up to us to grow in faith.

Did you have to accept your own dad in order to be his?

I don't believe in decision theology. God gives us faith. We can only believe in the Savior because we have faith. We cannot accept our way into it if we don't have faith from God. So those who have faith, are already IN the faith and have a Savior. Is there a choice then at that point? Well, you can remain or you can reject. Remaining isn't a choice since you're already there ;)

Besides, John 15:16 says that we do not choose God but He chooses us.

IF the child refuses to claim his father as his, the bond that is necessary for the relationship between the father and son is broken.

With all due respect, one's father IS his father. Yes, a child can be unaware of that..... a child can reject that and so from HIS/HER persective terminate the relationship but that has no relevance to the reality or to the parents' perspective.

In the Parable of the Prodigal Son, the son didn't consider himself a son but the father always was his father and always considered himself so: ".... could this be my SON? .... this son of MINE has returned." The older brother repudiates his relationship to his brother but the father says, "this brother of YOURS." Ain't making doctrine there, just using it as an example. Now, yes, the older son was OFFENDED by this relationship to his father and son - and thus rejected it (a sort of rejection of the Gospel because of PRIDE). The younger son accepted all of it, rejoiced in it, because of humility. What causes people to reject Law and Gospel is egoism, pride, thinking big of self and offended when mercy is extended (even to self).

Truth is truth.... reality is reality..... regardless of whether we know it or accept it or like it.

Why not start a new thread for that topic? Or there might be one already that can be dredged up?

Born again is born from above...that's baptism! God gives us faith in baptism so again that's God working in us to bring us to Him. It's His work, not ours.

Let's get back to the topic unless baptism makes people uncomfortable? Baptism IS gospel since God is the one who baptizes us.

Does this make Christians uncomfortable then - Micah 7:18 Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.

Don't you see God at work in repentance? Both by showing us our sin that causes contrition and then by giving us the joy of the Gospel that turns us to Him? How many times will God continue to turn us to Him? You don't have that answer? Neither does any other man.

i see the lord jesus specifically commanding repentance .. turning from sin to him.. not continuing in it .. your still preaching continuance of sinful behaviour by implication.. you need to get away from what ever denomination is teaching that .its opposed to gods word .

NO man can turn himself to God on his own. It's only by faith that we can come to God. He does the turning. Faith is a gift that comes from God. You think you're the one being a success at obeying but you're ignoring what God is doing in the turning you to Him. You're turning, but he's the one spinning you.

i note how you keep turning the topic away from the fact that you say you people cant stop practicing sin.. when the scriptures say that when they are born of god not only can they do cease to practice sin ..

You are the only one at CH that has ever used the word "can't."

We're waiting for that list of just TEN (only 10 - out of 7.3 BILLION people, shouldn't be too hard), just TEN living persons on the planet who have ceased to sin, who always "hit the mark" and who never "miss the mark." Who are perfect just as and to the same extent that God is 24/7. Who are holy just as and to the same extent that God is holy 24/7. Who love just as and to the same extent that Christ did 24/7. Who need no mercy, no grace, no forgiveness, no Cross, no Christ, no Savior because they have no sin. Could it be you CANNOT list even ONE name because you are wrong and Scripture is right - Scripture such as "NO ONE is righteous, no, not even one" "NO ONE is good but God exclusively" "If anyone claims to be without sin he is a liar and deceives only himself" Could Scripture be right and that's why you can't produce the name of even ONE living person on the entire planet Earth with a population of some 7.3 BILLION people? Because there's isn't even one?

the question not "can" but DO WE? If your foundational theology is correct, then there MUST be divinely perfect, holy, loving people among us - people who have ceased to sin, who always hit the mark and never miss the mark 24/7, who need no forgiveness or salvation or Christ because they don't sin, they never miss the mark. If you are correct, such MUST exist - or NONE are Christians, NONE are in Christ, NONE are going to heaven (including you.... after all, you' ve not even listed YOU as such a person). I think you are wrong and Scripture is right when it says, "NO ONE is righteous, no, not even one...... NO ONE is even good except God exclusively....... If ANYONE claims to be without sin he is a LIAR and deceives only himself." I think your promotion of the soteriology of Bhatki Hinduism is wrong and that Christianity is right - that we ALL NEED the Savior (ALL of us, ALL 7.3 billion on the planet) because all are sinners who need forgiveness..... and that the SAVIOR has been GIVEN, He is Christ. He FORGIVES sins.....

Where is the list of just TEN living people on the planet who have ceased to sin, who never miss the mark, who always hit the mark, who are divinely perfect, holy, loving just as and as much as God is, 24/7? These folks who make the Gospel irrlevant, who never need mercy or forgiveness or Christ or the Cross or the Blood or the Lamb or Christianity because they don't sin? Who are they? Can you name just 10? Can you name even one? No, obviously, you can't. Think about it. Then read Scripture that says, "if anyone claims to be without sin he is a liar and deceives only himself."

I think the concept of 24/7 living as God asks is overwhelming your mind. Too many sins in the way, may I ask? What is stopping you from believing it is possible? In the other thread, I have pointed out over 10 righteous according to scripture. By their lives, we know they were not perfect... but that is not where righteousness comes from. It comes from doing right according to God. Just do what you know God requires of you, know how to be just, tolerant, fair, long suffering, kind, loving, and have compassion on your fellow man while you worship Him who has created you and redeemed you. It really isn't that hard.

Yeshua said the burden is light. I can attest that the burden of guilt and sin is heavier. When He lifted those guilts and sins from my shoulders, I was forever grateful. I have vowed to walk in His ways, not caught up in some traditions of man, but to walk in the simplicity of obedience to His Ten.

Being righteous because of Christ (and yes, the way we live our lives, our vocations and producing fruit can only be righteous BY FAITH in Christ Jesus who covers us) does not mean being sinless. As Josiah points out, we still sin. No one is saying we must but that we do. No one is perfectly obeying the 1st commandment, for none of us have our faith perfected (Philippians 3:12 12Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been perfected,) and our sanctification is a continuation until our deaths that the Holy Spirit is working within us.

The Gospel states that we are clothed in Christ's righteousness. Does that make people uncomfortable?
The Gospel states that our sins are forgiven. Do people not want to believe that?

well now .. that returns us to the question asked you quite some time ago...

if- as you NOW say .. we CAN stop ... because jesus has so set us free and empowered us to .. then .. it is not a question of do you , but rather .. why DONT YOU ?
because you have now admitted with one hand that because of what he has accomplished o the cross FOR US .. that we can stop..

so why dont you do that which he has made possible ? is it perhaps because you love the sin more then you love the lord jesus ?

but then with the other hand you have said what .. we cant ? how long will you remain double minded on this issue ..

i have never said a person never commits "a sin' we all have the potential to disobey . but we can not do so without intent .nut i have agreed with the scriptures which say .. we do not ..continue to do so . and the scriptures are true.
