John 3:16 is my favorite evangelizing scripture, What does it mean to you ,and, who, if anyone, is exempt from salvation?

I love this verse too! It shows God's love for all of us, not just a select few, and lets us know about what He's done for us so that we may have eternal life and it's His Word working in us this Good News so that we can believe.

:) Yes! All means all. Our Father is not a respecter of persons. Do you get the impression that Christians act contrary to this scripture?

I don't think they realize how deep His love is for us and I know people want to be considered special but this verse points out just how special we are because I mean no one else would die for my sins.

presented with surrounding context .For if we use only that verse we present a partial truth -a part of the gospel and not the whole _..he says whoever believes on him, AFTER saying, we must "be born again " -so it fair and right to present it all together :) for belief alone according the the whole text ,does not save .. although if you take the verse alone by itself belief alone is enough .but in the context of the Whole Gospel message ..it is only a part of the way to salvation . so is any one exempt from that single verse 16 ?..yes . those who believe and yet refuse to repent and respond obediently to the whole Gospel message those who believe but refuse to abide in him ,those who believe but refuse to receive the promised holy Spirit .. this is why it is written that it is worse to have heard the gospel and not obeyed it then it is to have never heard it at all .

--------------------

Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

Jesus replied, Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.

“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

“How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.

“You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

The one important thing about this special verse is that it portrays the whole gospel message in just a few words. It alludes to our depravity without Jesus, and our reconciliation to the Father's love through belief in Jesus, and it talks of our heavenly reward and does not neglect the understanding that there is an eternal, fearsome consequence in denying ourselves this great gift of grace and mercy.

The whole BEAUTIFUL Gospel is there! No wonder it is the most beloved verse in the Bible!

BTW, it was my Confirmation verse. I was SO, SO pleased by that!

Yes! God's love, His answer to sin, His free gift of grace and mercy, His reward of eternal life, and His punishment for sin...and how any and all can have this free gift!

IMHO these verses compliment John 3:16 .

Romans 19:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

The depth of God's love for humanity is expressed in these verses. So, imho sharing these verses with people, even nasty unlovely people, can and do cause them to think about the love of God. Lord Jesus died while we were yet sinners. All people have to do is receive the gift by believing He did it for them because He love them. That should melt anyone's heart.

It is so deep and so profound... Amazing grace... That God would love us so much more than we could possibly imagine.. willing to go all out for our salvation... He is amazing.. I love Him because He first loved me.

Great song

Yes it is a great song among many speaking of God's great love. That He would forgive us so completely is kind of hard to wrap your mind around it.

Yes it is seeing as He is God and can destroy us and make new in our place. The story of Moses and the people in the desert always amazed me that God spared them even after telling Moses He would make him a new people

3.16 forgets 3.14 ....... the Shechinah and it's place is sacred.

No I don't think it forgets 14 at all, but rather compliments it.
