Howdy morning all! How are you? Today, became it’s a much cooler and refreshing but overcast and wet day outside, just playing some games on my Wii before dozing off tonight.

I finally have a dentist appointment today after all these months of waiting.

Seriously unproductive day today. My wife was under the weather a few days ago and today was my turn. Yesterday wasn't great - I had much the same symptoms she had but slightly worse. Hers disappeared after about 2-3 days and today is day 2 for me. I walked at church, doing laps of the building, rather than going outside where it was colder. Part way through it felt like whatever was ailing me broke because I started sweating profusely. Now I feel human again, which is nice.

It's weird, it was a bit like a head cold but without the stuffy nose and with odd aches across my shoulders, and that lasted a really short time. With the amount of chatter in the news about COVID surging just about everywhere I wondered if we could have it but from what I can see from the symptoms we had the chances seem very slim that it was. Along the way I taste-tested a few things - coffee, beer, ice cream etc (all in the name of research, obviously) and concluded my sense of smell and taste are working pretty much as they always have.

I was conscious that the breeze felt chilly when I went for my walk around town today but aside from that my system seems more or less back to normal.

True, but then we're also told you can have it without any of the symptoms so I'm not going to worry too much if I get a two-day cold when there's a two-day cold going around. The BBC News web site had a helpful comparison that showed symptoms of COVID, flu and common cold. I'm not always a big fan of the BBC but their comparison was far more useful than the "run to the hills" screaming that seems to dominate things on the left side of the water.

My daughter was tested a few weeks ago when she had symptoms of nasal problems and a slight cough. If it weren't for the cough I would have told her to not get tested because she gets sick every fall with either allergies or a cold. Her test was negative. So yeah, there is more going around than covid.

It doesn't help when there are multiple things going around - obviously if evidence is that there's a credible chance it is covid I'd want to get checked out (or maybe just play it safe and hide for a week or two regardless) but it's silly to panic at the slightest sign of a sniffle. For now I'm just being a bit more careful not to get too close to people until it passes - even if it's just a seasonal sniffle there's enough fear going around there's no need to feed it.
