Ah, you fixed the link. Yes, I see them now and they look great! You have 2 different methods with the horizontal...I think I like the one where it shows all the way across in front instead of being split on the sides. How about you? Which do you like?
The way the horizontal bar displays is just down to which way around you display the cross. The way I make them is to cut a dado half the thickness of each bar and the width of the other piece, then glue them together. If you prefer to see the vertical piece intact you display it one way round, if you prefer the horizontal piece to be intact you can display it the other way. It has an eye on the top so you can hang it either way around.
I don't really have a preference which way it hangs although I like the stained wood better than the unstained. So far the sales indicate the stained wood is more popular. If needs be I'll sand the lacquer off the unstained ones, stain them and then apply another coat of lacquer.
I also found out that a friend of mine can get me pallets from his work. They get loads of them in and from what I gather they usually end up in the trash or a burn pit. Once I've run out of crosses (which might take a while, I think I have 10 left and materials for another 5) if they are selling reasonably well I'll relieve him of a pallet or two.
