I can't say I have much time for either, it seems both have a lot of potential for good communications and both are ruined by people who are more interested in shouting down any disagreement than in discussion.

If anything I'd say Twitter is worse, simply because there are so many things that simply can't be condensed into something the length of a text message without losing most of it. Discussion by meme and discussion by soundbite aren't really discussions at all.

I've never done Twitter so I guess my vote would be Facebook even though lately I'm not a fan of the censoring happening there and have a new account on MeWe which is similar to FB but no censoring!

The reason I never signed up on Twitter is because when it first came out I had a friend who signed up and she was our director of the flute choir we were in. The group was invited to play at my church's ladies group Christmas party and between every single song and throughout the evening she was looking at her phone. It was frustrating so I resolved to not become involved in Twitter.

It's not just Twitter that has people doing that. It's remarkable how many people will just cut off their attention if their phone beeps for any reason at all. When I used Facebook I always refused to install the app because I don't want an app that reads every single thing I'm doing, and I always turned off notifications because I really don't care to be told, in real time, every single time anybody posts anything or likes a post or whatever else.

It seems the entire business model of "social media" (probably better called antisocial media) is to trigger as much fear of missing out as possible. The stupid thing is that most of what happens on those platforms is probably best missed. I've said for a long time that there's absolutely nothing on social media that I need to know right now - if I need to know right now then social media is the worst possible way to get the message to me. If something really is critical then call me, because that way you know whether or not you spoke to me and so you know for a fact that I got the message. If you text or post on social media, I'll read it sooner or later but it might not be for several hours.

I think I will go with the unwritten option none of the above. As to why, I think it's rather apparent why neither is better than the other.

I don't "get" Twitter, was on it for a while and then deleted my account. I remain on Facebook as that is where so many of my extended family and friends are. I like to keep up with them. I don't like the censoring either of them are doing, but since the sites are privately owned, they can do what they want. Doesn't mean I have to agree with it.

Facebook is somewhat more useful, but not by much. I'm not too fond of the interaction style of Twitter. Wouldn't Vk be a better comparison choice for Facebook?

Facebook for me. It's easier to connect with friends & family, while twitter is primarily for sharing ideas with the world. Facebook has a nicer user interface too.

It seems to me that Twitter is more about insulting people.
