My wife and I decided on paint colors for the room I'm rebuilding so maybe today we can get the painting done. Then I can fit the ceiling fan and finish sanding the floor. At this rate I might actually have a room put back together before too long.

Is Zoom considered secure enough to meet with clients? It's great for chat but I've read a lot of stuff about it having major security and privacy problems.

We have been told that it is an option for us. Nothing is perfect of course

I read that Zoom was working on fixing the issues and that the person Hosting the chat has some controls too over privacy such as not allowing people to share their screen and other such things.

I have been using Zoom and it's really interesting since I normally don't like to do any type of video chatting but it's been great seeing faces I haven't seen in years in front of me again :)

I've been using Zoom recently but for chats with friends that aren't sensitive. I gather they have improved security somewhat, but when I hear "talks with clients" in the context of something with potential security issues I wonder if it's suitable. Of course not all discussions with clients need to be confidential, depending on the business.

The funny thing is that some of the friends live abroad and I never used Zoom to talk with them until we were all locked down, even though it would have been ideal for the job.

A friend of mine is a social worker who deals with foster children and apparently she has something (I don't know what) that lets kids talk to therapists over a video link that is sufficiently secure to not generate privacy issues. From what she said it sounds like it's approved under the legislation that protects health data, so it must be good.

Ceiling painted, room fumigated, brushes etc cleaned. Remarkably little paint on anything other than the ceiling, all things considered. It's the first time I've done painting in nearly 20 years and I was pleased with the results. Tomorrow I can paint the walls.

Cold today. Not sure how it ends up this cold at the end of April but there you go. I'm expecting to do my walk around town in the morning because walking in the cold beats walking in the rain. Then church to record our message for Sunday, and I'll paint the walls in my room when it's warmer. Then once the walls are dry I can fiddle with electrics and baseboards and stuff. Then I get the really fun job of sanding the floor.

Allergy season combined with the coronavirus must be fun. If you sneeze you have to guess whether you've got a week to live or just need to take a Clarityn.

Got my walls painted. I hate the roller I bought, it really is a piece of junk. I cleaned it off after I'd finished painting but I'm not sure why I bothered, chances are it's going in the trash this weekend.

Trying to get the paint right into the corners without getting it on the ceiling was fun. I ended up going round with a tiny little artist's brush dabbing as little paint at a time as I could manage. The paint I bought promised "up to 400 square feet" of coverage but I'm not sure I believe it, other than in the context that getting 5 technically counts as getting "up to 500".

Once the paint is fully dried I can fit the ceiling fan then get the ladder out of there, and get back to the electrics and the floor. Oh what fun.

I think for me it's all allergies. The neighbors have cotton wood trees that they said they were going to cut down and those things I'm highly allergic to and they'll be infecting the air soon with the flying cotton debris!

Sounds pretty grim.

I'm always conscious of coughing when I go to my hardware store, if I've been sanding the floor. My sander has a dust collector but of course you can't buy dust masks worth anything because nobody has anything available, so whatever happens you end up breathing in a bit of dust. Hooking the dust port to my shop vac helps a lot - at least I can still buy earplugs so I can work without trashing my hearing. It's not great having a power cable and a vacuum hose trailing behind everything but at least it means less of it goes in my lungs.

Speaking of sanding the floor, once I've got the ceiling fan installed take a wild guess what fun I have lined up for today?
