So... What are YOU doing? - Part 7

I gave my wife a day off the dust and noise so she could clean, and went for a walk in the woods. I have no idea how many times I've walked this particular loop this season but it's a nice loop with a beautiful vista near the furthest point so I don't mind walking it over and over and over. Now I've lost enough weight to get in my long walking pants, maybe next year I can do some longer walks and explore new trails. When I'm wearing shorts I'm hesitant to explore new trails because if they are a bit overgrown, as many are, I need to be more conscious of ticks.

Our friends should be here in an hour or so. Hoping for a good evening with them.

Congrats on the weight loss!

It's hunting season on some of my favorite trails so I haven't been out much.

I have a very bright orange sweatshirt that I wear. When I overheat in it (which I do, even when it's barely 40 degrees outside) I wrap it around my shoulders. I also have a two-tone vest that's hi-vis yellow and hi-vis orange, with reflective stripes. You'd really struggle to mistake me for a deer

Today I was walking with the orange sweatshirt around my shoulders, with the hi-vis vest on. Somewhere I have a very bright yellow T-shirt that I should probably dig out and wear on the trails.

Have you considered talking to a counselor to help you through your mourning? It takes a long time to heal because you feel the loss of relationship.

Good afternoon all, sipping an iced coffee and a hot latte. Lunch is leftovers with orange juice. Playing “Pokémon Masters” till dinner and heading to bed tonight.

Just went for a walk around town with my wife - it's too nice not to spend at least some time outside. I really want to be in the woods again but I've got stuff to do in the house that really needs some progress. First up is routing some cables - previously I fed them through a gap between joists but I think I need to reroute them through a hole I drilled because I'm not sure if I can drywall into the corners with the cables there. It's not difficult, it's just a bit of a pain because it means turning the power off to all the upstairs lights, disconnecting everything, feeding the cables through the hole, and then reconnecting everything again. Then when it's time to drywall I may need to disconnect the switches again so I can drywall over the top of the back box, then cut a hole and reconnect the switches. Oh what fun, but it will be worth it to get a room finished.

Today I'm going to have another shot at the wiring. I made a faltering start yesterday because I discovered I didn't have the back box I needed, and didn't want to have to fuss with disconnecting the power and fiddling with the cables twice. By the time I had the back box it was getting dark and fighting with wires by the light of a battery lamp was getting tedious, so I decided to just put a wire nut on the live end and turn the power back on. Maybe today when I can see what I'm doing more easily I can get on with the job more successfully.

Good afternoon all, enjoying an iced mocha and a mild French roast coffee. Lunching on leftovers with orange juice. Doing aroma therapy and music therapy till dinner and bedtime tonight.

Wiring is done, and nothing blew up when I turned the power back on and flicked the switches. One switch currently does nothing, except energise a wire that feeds into the ceiling box and isn't connected to anything. The other operates the light, as it did before but now it's in a proper box rather than hanging on loose wires as a temporary measure. The currently unused wire will be connected to the fan, once the room is finished. That way I have one switch for the light and one for the fan, so you can turn things on and off from the door rather than having to fumble through the room in the dark.

Now I can get busy cutting some more insulation panels, and think about getting a friend in to help with drywalling. Maybe I can get the insulation between the ceiling joists in the meantime.
