I have noticed a "boost" in activity lately, it seems to be working, meanwhile I am scouting out potential members to join for certain discussions so you guys be nice to our guest should they join.

Technically you can. But don't make a habit out of it. It annoys some people to get mentioned often and not everyone wants to participate in all conversations.
