1) Because Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East
2) Because if Israel is not able to survive as a nation it will mean her people will not survive--literally.

Morality is completely on the side of supporting Israel, so the question is not particularly difficult to answer. :)

And if that is not clear, consider which people and groups in this country want the destruction of Israel. Its the same ones that want the destruction of the USA.

Not on religious grounds. Remember: "Israel" as a political state ended in 722 BC and should not be confused with a civil state now in existence. Remember: "Israel" is now the church.

But there MAY be political reasons to support this democracy in the middle east. But that has nothing whatsoever to do with religion.

I noted that you put this in the Christian Theology forum (not the politics one) and thus interpreted the question as a religious one.... But MY opinion is that Israel (as a political state created in 1947) has NOTHING to do with religion at all. The "problem" IMO is that some read the moniker of this modern state and think of the Bible and "Israel" in the Bible. Of course, THAT state ended in 722 BC. IMO, "Israel" now means US - the church. THAT is the "Israel" we should be eager to support in a religious/theological sense.

I always heard it was because America would be blessed for blessing (protecting) Israel.
I was also given stories about how God and Angels protect it as well, army stories about how the enemy saw angels so they surrendered. There is also talk that it's an unfolding of revelations, something about surrounding nations gather against them for the great battle but these are not my views or opinions just what I have been briefed on by local peers.

I do not believe that Israel consists entirely of the nation that is in the Middle East, for do not the scriptures say that we who believe are grafted in and thus supporting Israel would mean supporting our fellow believers, not a nation.

Each one of those things is backed up by scripture, dont ask me where but have read it many times, one is I will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse Israel.

Well I remember than specific line too, im not arguing that. I just get a little lost at the revelation part and its significance.

Dont know if this is what you get lost in but Revelation deals with Israel and the bigggest thing I see other than war is that Israel will enter the millenial in a physical body and live here while those who are in Christ will have a glorified body and rule and reign in Christ

"Israel" was not a country when Revelation was written. That didn't happen until 1948.

Israel in the bible refers to God's chosen people and those who reject Him and happen to live in that area are not part of His people.

Funny in the Old testament Israel was a nation and of course the Romans certainly considered it so when they ruled over it and when the country split in the Old Testament the two nations were Israel and the Northern kingdom so I disagree that it wasnt till 1948 that it was a nation

I always considered it a Kingdom and not a country. I suppose they could be the same. Today, the country of Israel has those who reject the Savior. Are we to support them? That's part of what I want to know.

The verses I am thinking of does not specify and even when they were out of Gods favor He still loved them and eventually brought them back which is exactly what happens at the end of tribulation so I would say yes we need to support them and I do believe by doing so we are blessed.

What about the ones who rejected the Savior and died that way?

I don't know. Is it a trick question?

:smirk:

No. It was just something that crossed my mind when I was reading the online newspapers. A lot of Christians glorify the country Israel as if it's something more special than the actual believers.
