Pepperoni?

Nope, finely crumbled sausage!! I mixed the sweet with the spicy sausage and it was a bit too spicy for my stomach! It tasted wonderful though.

It's been a while since I did much with the house and figured it was time that changed, because these fixes won't do themselves.

Yesterday it was dreary all morning so didn't do much but then the sun came out so I took the chance to do some patches to the outside of the wall. It's not a job I particularly like, especially the parts that involve working up the ladder. I don't mind the height so much, it's just a nuisance to be going up and down the ladder endlessly for something or other. The main thing is the water bottle I use to dampen the surfaces before applying the cement - I need to spray water right before I put the cement on because if I spray the water and then go down the ladder to get the cement the chances are it will have largely dried by the time I get back up. But then I need somewhere to keep the bottle while I apply the cement.

The heat of the direct sunlight was great for drying out the cement but not so great for working in. By the time I was done I was sweating profusely and didn't smell particularly good.

Today I got back to stripping wallpaper. It's been six months since I did any of that - the last time was when I slipped, put the scraper into my wrist, and ended up going to the ER to have the cut stitched shut. Thankfully today's effort didn't involve injuring myself, and I got the section of wall completely stripped. Now I can put a light switch in there. It seemed like a really bad idea to connect wires to the live feed and then drip water all over everything.

I'm also trying to keep a single picture of the end goal in mind. There are a few possibilities we might develop stuff, and my mind keeps flitting between them. Both are possible, one is preferable (but quite a bit more work), and everything seems to involve multiple possibilities. Sometimes I wish it were a sensible option to just bulldoze the place and start over, or to strip everything right back to studs and start from nothing. Some friends recently bought a house and did just that, but they have the luxury (albeit an expensive one) of living in their old house while they fix up the new house. Their approach was to take two weeks to strip everything out and start over. I envy them that freedom.

Listening to the rain. I miss the mid-west thunder, though.

Just got the grass cut. Not a job I care for much but it won't cut itself.

Got our heating man coming this afternoon to show me how to drain my heating system. I need to take some radiators out so I can get at the walls behind them. This could be interesting. The house has two heating loops so we've still got some form of heat, just in case we get an unexpected chill. And if all else fails I can use electric heat.

Got a walk in before it gets warm today and going to see my Endocrinologist finally after my thyroid removal 2 months ago. Time to get some lab work and hopefully get my meds upped some more!

Mowing the lawn results in a surprising level of activity on my Fitbit. It doesn't feel like a very big lawn but my Fitbit registered over 5000 steps to mow it. Probably because I don't like having to clear out blockages and tend to go back and forth with a slightly larger overlap than is entirely necessarily.

Hope your appointment goes OK.

LOL We have a lawn tractor and it took me a few minutes to figure out how you were getting steps by mowing!! My husband just sits and spins the wheel!

Haha.... yes, we've got the kind where you push it along. It has driven wheels but you still have to walk behind it. Our yard is an odd shape and I didn't think the benefits of a ride-on mower were enough to make it worth the extra cost.

Many years ago I lived next to a couple who had a ride-on mower, which was comical because the back yards were tiny little postage-stamp spaces. They had moved from a place out of town with a much larger back yard. They would fire up the mower, ride it up and down once, then shut it off and put it away. It took up most of their shed. Back then I had an electric hover mower. It was hard work but did the job.

Our windows are ajar, just enough to get some air in. At present most of what we can smell and hear is rain. Massive downpour, glad I got the grass cut yesterday.

It got really muggy out so I'm wondering if I should turn the air conditioning on. I get so cold all the time that I really don't want to do it.

All but trashed a grinding wheel on my angle grinder, cutting the top of my oil barrel flush with the lip of it. This has taken so much more work than I expected, with the benefit of hindsight I should have just cut the top off with a horizontal cut and been done with it.

At least now it's cut, mostly cleaned out, and ready to be turned into a cyclonic separator for my wood shop.

Almost through for the week with work. Looks like my noon appointment isn't showing up. That gives me time to do some notes. Yay

Went to Kohls and bought a purse and sandals (30% off coupon!) and then came home to work on getting my garden prepared. We'll buy the fencing this weekend.

Trying to figure out why the pressure release on my furnace is dripping so much. The outflow pipe meant it was dumping water all over the floor in the basement, so I cut the pipe off and put a hose attachment in instead, so at least I can guide the outflow to nearer the drain.

Looks like I'm going to need a new valve on my furnace. Thankfully it's not urgent, it can wait until the next scheduled service.
