I got a phone call from my admissions counsellor at Concordia Seminary- St. Louis. My application has been declined. I am currently processing this and planning to have a quiet night cap to console myself.

I miss walking my dog! When she got older she got slower but sometimes that was just nice :D
So sorry she is gone. Took Suzy for a short walk as I ate so much I was too tired to walk farther.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe try somewhere else?

My wiring project didn't make much progress due to too many other things. The sun was out so I took the chance to cut the lawn before the bad weather that's forecast later in the week. Then I took a piece of pipe back to the hardware store because it was the wrong size, and exchanged it for the right size. Trying to fit a new nozzle to the end of the hose caused the metal end to break off inside the new nozzle, so I had to fix that (both extracting the broken end, and fitting a new end to the hose). Then I dismantled a couple of old rusted yard chairs for a guy at church who collects scrap metal, and cut up a big long metal pipe that's been sitting in the yard for months. And for good measure I fired up my table saw and started to make a support to raise my air conditioner so it fits in the window better.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get to do the wiring....

Sounds like you are very handy around the house and yard with all your knowledge of materials. Good for you!

One of my cats Tootsie is at the vet overnight. They think she might have asthma. I am not sure what they are going to do about it. She was wheezing on and off all weekend

That's sad news indeed :( Prayers God leads you straight away in the next direction you are to go.

I've learned a lot as I've made my way through old things in the house. Cutting things up is little more than firing up the sawzall (with eye protection on first!).

I hope so too. She is getting older and sleeps a lot, but this wheezing is a new thing

Well I got my cable pulled into place. It was a remarkably tedious process, given there are already two cables going through the holes I drilled and the third one seemed to constantly snag and twist. But eventually, with some help from my wife pulling and me going up and down the stairs in what seemed like an endless succession of needing to be somewhere other than where I was, I now have a reel of cable in the attic with the end of it in the basement beside the breaker panel. Now I just need to connect it to the breaker panel and then start ripping out the nasty old cable that it's going to replace.

Along the way I can take out the 20-odd feet of cable that twists and coils to span a three foot cap, and replace the whole lot with a nice shiny new cable. Now I'm just hoping I don't run out of spaces in my breaker panel that's barely six months old.

I'd been using my coffee table for a TV stand temporarily (which actually suits that purpose well), and looking for another one. But I found a great coffee table on a 24-hour bidding site for cheap. The guy even dismantled it for me so I could get it in my car. So it's put together. Metal base with slate tiles for the top. I can finally put my feet up again :)

It's too hot and sweaty to be doing the work on the business end of the new cable I pulled. I got it connected to the breaker panel (with the breaker left turned off, obviously!) and then a storm came through so I figure it was a really bad idea to be doing any more work on the electrics. Maybe I'll take the chance to go to the hardware store and get a couple of bits I'll be needing to finish what I have in mind.

Tootsie is still at the vet having blood work done and x rays. She had a good morning, but got sick again this afternoon. It seems they don't know what is wrong

We are meeting at the Vet later today to have my cat Tootsie put to sleep. There is nothing more they can do for her. It's going to be a sad day

So sorry, I know how much pets mean and my prayers are with you. I dread this as my dog is getting old and I will face this at some point

My condolences! I've seen so many of my friends having to put their pets to sleep this month and it's always sad.

Hoping the weather stays temperate enough that I can get on with my wiring in the crawl space, once other stuff is done. I need to get into town or I'd be doing it now.

The vet has completely changed his mind in the last 12 hours. He's now saying its an upper respiratory infection. I'm picking her up at 4 pm. If she has any other problems I am taking her to a different vet. I don't trust them anymore
