You get 1 billion dollars to use in any way you want, tax free, but... for the rest of your life you have to remain single (no romantic relationship whatsoever, no friends, no family). You can have acquaintances, work colleagues and servants, of course, but not one single person will ever show you any type of authentic affection.

The moment you try to make a friend or a partner or a family member, all the money and everything you purchased with the money disappears and the deal is off. This means you can't have children via insemination and you can't adopt children either because they would become family members.

If you are already in a relationship or married, your partner will stop loving you and will instantly divorce you the moment you accept the deal and this is non-negotiable.

Would you accept the deal?

But you said no friends, no family.
Why would you need friends and family to take care of homeless people?

You could open homeless shelters and keep the relationships with your workers strictly professional. You could build a charity organization and be known as that eccentric CEO that is a recluse and doesn't make friends, but is always efficient and professional about paying salaries and distributing the funds.

Yes. Per your conditions, I would spend every cent of it to expose, make war against and prosecute the evil satanists ruling this world, fund organizations that do the same, and/or help the common man live a life of peace that necessarily facilitates the former.

Then I would kill myself.

Why would I want to do such a thing?

Well, because it would be altruistic. You would be sacrificing your happiness for the wellbeing and happiness of thousands of other people.

There are other better ways of achieving that.

It wouldn't even be particularly altruistic because if you made a mistake and accidentally made a friend everything you'd bought for the homeless would vanish, leaving them back on the streets with no idea what had gone wrong. I'm sure formerly homeless people would just love to head back to their new home only to find it had disappeared completely.

But that's love your neighbour at the expense of yourself. And that only works if you're alone and have no partner kids or family or friends. Then it only goes at the expense of yourself. Now it also affects your family members, friends, coworkers. They're not worth less than others. And also you're not worth nothing yourself. No love whatsoever? That drives one crazy. And what about friendship with God? Also forbidden? Nope.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body [a]to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

No, that's not forbidden. This is only about human affection. You can have pets, you can have God, you can have all the imaginary friends you want.

I could do it now. I don't need a billion dollars for that. I could dump my parents. Never visit em anymore. Dump my kids with their dad. Give up this flat and rent a garage to live in instead or a dorm or a caravan and then give all the money I earn to others. And then? For years we helped "poor" people from church. Some were just selfish and lazy. Woman refused to work. Wanted to be a housewife. One couple, they both refused to work. And I must dump my kids and my well being for them? No way. Get a job. Noone in this country has to starve. Even homeless get govt money. If they chose to have a big fat house and privacy and a car and cant pay it because they dont want to work, thats not my problem. One woman, her daughter is a filthy rich lawyer and she's lazy, so I could pay for mrs to lay in her bed til 11, cause her daughter refused to pay her even for baby sitting. Move it. Leave me alone. Plus we had a guy in church who had been an alcoholic and he had 230000 debt and we couldn't give him that, so we prayed and zjoot 3 0's gone. He had 230 debt left. Former homeless guy. Another guy, they wanted to throw him in jail. One day before he had to go, because he had 90.000 debt, zjoot, debt gone thanks to my imaginary Friend. I don't need 1 billion to hate and dump everyone I love to let others walk over me and help one or two who genuinely need help.

Well, congratulations! You're the second person who replied so far who shows true altruism. 😀(y)
Oooooh that was a good one. I had to look up what it meant. I was more altruistic when I had no kids. I had a full time job. We didn't need much. Ex made almost no money with that church, but that didn't matter, because we wanted to help people, but when I got kids you get genetic altruism: only your own family. Also others of course if possible, but not at the expense of them. LOL the kids had a friend with 2 rich parents, really huge house, good jobs. His mother just went on a holiday alone with her girlfriends. But they thought it was a pity of their money to buy him toys and he got jealous, because I bought my kids fidget spinners and other fun stuff. I was thin. I just skipped meals to buy them toys. So I have bought stuff for him too twice and he got roller skates they didn't want anymore. Poor disadvantaged kid lol. Meanwhile we slept with 4 in one room on 2 bunk beds.

Money-wise, how are you doing now? Have things improved?
