Both, all and whatever God so chooses it to be on different occasions and for different reasons for each. I believe Yeshua said this to open the doors for believers in their situations to be brought to mind this verse when they need to go beyond what they know has been fulfilled in the past and to ask God for the great miracles of gigantic proportions conceived by faith and asked for it. We ask too little ... we don't believe on the grand scale of things.. our faith is weak.. our connections with God are traditional paths.. and we are stuck in ruts. By faith, we need to be Elijah's... Moses' and go beyond what has been done before.
Amen

Yes
For God a simple matter, for us impossible. Truth is we need to be hearing from God when we do these things or we will make a fool of ourself and the gospel

Yes, although that still doesn't address the question of whether "greater things" refers to things that are greater in scope or greater in number.

I don't doubt it. My point is that people take "greater things" to refer to things that are greater in scope when Jesus already did just about anything and everything imaginable and then some. The question of whether "greater things" refers to things greater in scope or greater in number isn't answered by an assessment (accurate as it may be) that our faith is often times too weak.

However ig our faith is to weak then the rest is just talk. Why discuss greater things if we cant achieve faith enough to do them, it becomes a moot point

YOU don't achieve enough faith. It comes from God as a gift. We can pray for more but we can't make it happen. Any type of achievement as a Christian is always attributed to God's work in us. We can't boast.

I agree that it comes from God and we are all given a measure of faith and then we are instructed to grow it, htrough reading the word, through the challanges in our life, many ways but of course we can despair and not grow, either we choose to believe or not and yes I know that we all at times need someone to stand with us because our faith falters but basically we should be growing from faith to faith

Also true, and also not really addressing the point. If we don't have enough faith to step out in faith it's academic whether we're supposed to do things that are greater in number or greater in scope than what Jesus did.

That said Jesus loved a lot of people who weren't very lovely, and that's something we can do even without the kind of faith that may be required for divine fireworks. It's also the sort of thing that really demonstrates we do believe in something different.

It's easy to say that we can choose to believe but there's a crucial difference between well placed faith and blind faith.

If we see a rickety old bridge over a ravine we can choose to believe it will support us but that doesn't mean that it will. If our faith in the bridge is misplaced it's not going to help us however much we convinced ourselves we believe we'll cross the ravine safely.
