Well, here's what God said:

"God desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." 1 Timothy 2:4

...and many other Scriptures making the same point.

Why should we believe you rather than God?

.
You are treating your maligned interpretation as scripture? Did he blind the Pharisees dooming them to hell because he wanted to save them?

Yes, that so-called "interpretation" has been "maligned." By you, that is.

Most people here believe what the Bible has to say, and there's not much interpreting that we need to do when the verse says "God desires all people to be saved!" How else should we take that? God DOESN'T desire all people to be saved??

After all this time, it's still surprising how easily you move between quoting Scripture as proving any and all of the "Dave Doctrines" you've created in your own mind...and then dismissing the clear words of Scripture without presenting any evidence or even a logical justification for having done so. When it comes to the matter you responded to here, your harrumpf didn't even address the point we had been discussing.

If you believe in universal atonement (no such thing), you save yourself.
That makes no sense. In typical Protestant theology, including Calvinist, the saved have faith and the unsaved don’t. Those who believe in universal atonement still say this. In Calvinist theology, that faith arises because God creates it in the elect. Even if Jesus died for everyone, his death only saves those who have faith. And the Calvinist account of how faith arises could still work.

God would be dishonest and would cheat Christ out of his purchase if all he died for were not saved. Faith is evidence God saved you. Had he not paid for your sins you would not believe in any true sense.

Since there are a bunch of Scriptures saying he died for everyone, welcome to universalism.

Americanised "Christians" cannot understand the promise made to Abraham. The whole world means Jews and Gentiles alike. Think like the first-century audience and you might understand the meaning.
