"tear up" would be an overstatement, but.... "Borning Cry" is a song I love (done at the Baptism of both my sons) and it does choke me up a bit...

I MUCH prefer contemporary Christian music to the old hymns that I sang when I was a kid. They were probably old songs by then, too.

...which of course means music that you enjoy personally even if its not especially meaningful or inspiring. Surely there's some sort of happy medium that could be turned to; and I'm not thinking of one of those creations for which the audience sways gently and glassy-eyed while singing the same simplistic line over and over a few dozen times.

I enjoy and am inspired by the music at my church. It’s some of the same songs played on our contemporary Christian station. A few songs were hymns done as a pop/rock version and I think our praise band compose some of their own music, too.
