With respect to 1 John 5:16-17 (ESV):
16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that.
17 All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death. ,

John is writing to Christians. Your passage from 1John 5 is not referring to salvation.

Actually, MennoSota is partially correct.

1 John 5:16-17 is not referring to salvation with respect to its obtaining or its retention.

1 John 5:16-17 is referring to salvation only with respect to its loss.

No... it's not.
16*If you see a fellow believer sinning in a way that does not lead to death, you should pray, and God will give that person life. But there is a sin that leads to death, and I am not saying you should pray for those who commit it.*17*All wicked actions are sin, but not every sin leads to death.
The death is physical, not spiritual.
There are sins for which God kills the Christian rather than have them continue in sin. Ananias and Saphira are examples.

That means that people who sin gravely get to Heaven sooner than those who do not.

Now isn’t that an interesting idea. Probably not part of the Original Apostolic Gospel, one could assume.
