I'm listening to the "new" Queensryche in concert 2015 -
The songs are played well, the new singer is doing a good job and sounds very similar to the band's original...
and it's a tough crowd. I can't help but notice the overall lack of enthusiasm for the band/music.
I saw Queensryche live during their Mindcrime tour, at the pinnacle of their popularity - and it was an awesome show - really enjoyed. I enjoyed it because I enjoy their music and their message resonated with me - as with many fans.
It must be hard on the performers in the new line up - they are doing an excellent job - and mostly the audience seems very "ho hum". Why is that? Perhaps it's the perception that - because of the break up and only 3 original members -
it's like listening to a semi-cover band trying to recapture the spirit of the original Queensryche? Or - just trying to milk the success of the past for all it's worth?
I don't like to say that - but that is partly what it feels like to me, and I wonder if this particular audience is under the same impression.
