What warning signs do you look for when calling a pastor at your congregation?
When being interviewed in front of the congregation--if that's part of the process in any particular church--it's amazing the range of emotions and etc. that the candidate is likely to exhibit.

They easily come across as neurotic, very political, uncertain of their vocation, preoccupied with the fringe benefits and salary they're hoping for...or something else, either good or bad. Anticipating what the profile will turn out to be is usually impossible, but the congregants know it when they see it.
