You cannot repent of something that you are unaware of.

But that doesn't mean sin didn't exist - just because I'm not AWARE of "it."

Nor is it even possible to repent of every sin....

Nor is it even possible to be sinless.... Whether one is or is not a Christian.

Being in Christ means sin is no longer imputed unto our account. Jesus paid our sin debt. That is the good news/Gospel.

Nowhere, in any scripture does it state that utter direction under God, sacrifice of the sins of the flesh through Christ, or freedom from the bindings of sin is unattainable. It expressly states that God is without sin or deceit or fault of any kind. It shows that Jesus, our Lord was wholly under the direction of GOD and a man. He actually laid out everything we are to do to be rightly under God as followers of Christ.

There is this thing called shame. It is conviction. If you don't have shame, then you actually perceive yourself to be without sin or fault. That is not the way. Saying that sin is irrelevant is like saying Satan is irrelevant, which may be exactly what it would have you believe. Deceit at your core in relation to self is a blinding thing. Salvation is the means of which the Vail may be lifted.

Peace.

Faith in selfless Unity for Good.

I didn't realize this thread was in the Off Topic forum, so I have moved it to Christian Theology.

if this were true ,,then christ died for nothing and we all are lost ,
but thankfully .. what you have stated here is NOT truth.
for no one who is in sin or has sin will ever abide in the presence of God .sin cannot come into his perfect holy presence .
thus he has made a way for sin to be removed .

if you continue in sin to do it then you are a slave to it ,serving it by the actions of your flesh and you are not in a state of repentance .

and to add .. if you ,while sinning ,perceive yourself to be without sin ..then you lie and the truth is not in you.. such a person needs to repent .

Being in Christ means sin is no longer imputed unto our account. Jesus paid our sin debt. That is the good news/Gospel.

no it does not .. it means by faith "his righteousness" is imputed to us .. once we are made righteous by faith we will maintain righteousness by "what we do "

as it is clearly writen - "No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;

so we see then that if we continue to sin we practice unrighteousness and are by virtue of that practice ..unrighteous .. that is to say ,if we practice wickedness we do so because we are wicked .and we do not know God nor have we seen him . -no mater which way you look at it .. the scripture is clear and it is TRUE .

What people need to realize is .. To be saved you must REPENT of your sin .. turn away from it and cease doing it .. be baptized in water into the death of the Lord Jesus and rise again into his resurrection and he will give you the Holy Spirit .. , HIS ETERNAL LIFE AND SINLESS NATURE .. and sin's power will be broken and you will have the power to cease from ALL SIN . from the moment you are reborn in the Spirit of GOD the only thing in all existence that can make you sin.. is "you" -realize it and walk free .

the lord JESUS BROKE the power of sin by the shedding of his own sinless blood ..he OVERCAME .. he did not die on the cross and rise again in semi victory ..he rose again in TOTAL VICTORY over both sin and death .so sin shall NOT reign in your mortal body that you should obey it in the lust there of .

there is absolutely NOTHING in scripture which justifies the false thinking that it is ok to remain in a state of perpetually sinning . -if ANYONE is in that state, you need to search out your salvation with fear and trembling and get right with GOD today and repent , be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost .

I believe there is Gospel.

I believe that I DO sin - thus, as you apply this verse, I CANNOT be a Christian and hell is my home.

Paul said that NO ONE is righteous, no not one. Thus, it seems your position is NO ONE is Christian, NO ONE is headed for heaven.

Let's pretend that you are capable of sin.... that you had a thought that was NOT absolutely holy, NOT absolutely perfect, NOT absolutely righteous. But THEREFORE, you did not realize it as such and thus did not say: "I confess unto Thee, O Holy God, that at 4:23 AM this morning I hadeth a thought that was not PERFECT as Thee and I repent of such in the name of Jesus". Nope, you didn't say that. Are you thus hellbound?

Since you seem to claim that Christians don't sin.... and since Paul called himself the CHIEF of SINNERS ... thus Paul could not have been a Christian, do you believe Paul is thus in hell - being that he sinned and thus does not know God?

IMO, Christianity empty of the Gospel is just Law. And thus just hell.

- Josiah

lets revisit this post ..
this verse refers to ...-> 1 john 3:6 -No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;…

why do you sin? because you choose to do so..
why are we obedient to the lord jesus ..? because we choose to be so after we have been set free from sins power and set free to make that choice .he writes his law on our hearts and we simply know when something is wrong and so we obey and "don't do it " ..if we do it in opposition to our conscience ..then - we sin.
and why did we sin?
because we chose to .
if we always choose to sin then we serve sin and if we serve sin then we do not serve christ .. thus we are not Christs .

do i will share the good news with you ( also known as "the Gospel " )
what must we do to be saved ? -
1 repent (we have sinned against the most high God) -we must turn away from our sin and cease from following it .
2 be baptized
and
3 receive the holy Spirit .
we cannot short cut the command .

This good news is for you and all . there is no need to be condemned by the message for the message is designed to save you ,not condemn you .

so go quickly and do this and you shall be saved ,do not wait for "now is the day of salvation says the lord " ..

some get concerned that they may fail or won't be able to stop their sin afterwards .. but put your faith in the lord jesus to do what you can never do ..to do IN YOU what only HE CAN do .. give you the power of his Holy Spirit and by that power of freedom you will walk in HIS victory and not be enslaved to sin any more but be in christ .. there is no middle ground .

its all very good news :)

I sin because I'm sinful. Paul says all are. Scripture says "for ALL have sinned and fall short" and "NO ONE is righteous, no, not one." I don't exclude myself from that. Do you?

Paul stated that he is the "CHIEF of sinners." Is he thus in hell?

I'm not. At least not as He calls me to be. I'm not perfect as He is perfect (Matthew 5:48). I'm not holy as God Himself is holy. I don't love all 7.2 billion people in the same way and to the same extent that Jesus did on the Cross and still does now. I'm not making disciples of all 7.2 billion people as He calls us to do. Scripture says NO ONE is righteous, NO NOT ONE. For ALL fall short. I don't think you likely have a basis to declare yourself an exception and thus Paul wrong about that. But I could be wrong there.

Actually, what you posted is law - and thus BAD news. I reject such a Christless, Crossless, Bloodless, Gospel-less position.

do this and you shall be saved

I'm a Christian. Thus I believe that Christ is the Savior, that salvation results from what Christ does. I reject your position that self says, that the Law saves, that we are saved by OUR works (a position of Islam and some Jews and Hindus).

there is no middle ground

I agree. Either self is the Savior and the Law saves.... or Christ is the Savior and the Gospel saves.

Thank you.

Stop adding to the Word of God. Here is the scripture in context.
1John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

So your saying you don't sin any more , according to this scripture, makes you a liar and His truth is not in you. This scripture shows that it is the blood of Jesus that cleanses us from sin and ALL unrighteousness. In the natural unregenerated self, it is impossible to be righteous. But being born again with His Spirit indwelling us, we have the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. He is the one that saves us. He is the one who keeps us. Faith in your own ability to keep yourself is self righteousness, which is as a filthy rag. When we get saved, we become new creatures in Christ Jesus. All of the righteousness we have is His. We can claim none in and of ourselves. If we have to keep ourselves then what need do we have for His grace and His mercy? Your self righteousness shows the enemy has bewitched you and you are preaching a different gospel from the on preache by the Apostle Paul. Please get back on track with the Good News.

Gal.2:19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Gal. 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding.

i have added nothing.. you simply do not like the verse i posted . i noticed you carefully left that verse out .
-this verse .. it is there it is written ..it cannot be ignored -1 john 3:6 -No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;…

tell me -what is my sin ? what sin have i sinned which you speak of ? the lord Jesus has washed away all my sin .. and set me free that i may not sin any more .. IF ... i do then i must repent and admit and i will be forgiven .. but this is written for the extreme tragic case of a believer doing so.. it is not written as if it is the norm to sin.. nor is it written for those who return and sin again and again an again.. that is merely a state of unrepentance.. and unrepentant sin remains present sin . Name the 10 commandments..which have i as a new creation in Christ JESUS violated since the lord has renewed all things .. ? you see we are not saved into perpetual sin but into his righteousness that may then walk in his righteousness and no longer serve sin- you cannot serve two masters ..you simply cannot .jesus said so .. when people say they continue to sin and cant stop doing so.. they make the lord JEsus a liar .. .. we WERE in sin.. we had sin .. if we denied that at the time then we are presently not saved for we lied and the truth is not in us .. but NOW , we are washed ,now we are clean now we are free ,now we are washed in the blood of the lamb ,now we are the saints , now ..if we continue in sin we crucify the lord again..

these things are ALL in the Holy Script .

repent means -repent .. it does not mean ask forgiveness and then go and sin again. if we do that then we have simply not yet repented .obey the command of God .. repent -be baptized and you shall receive the holy Ghost .

you just rejected the word of god!

I don't think so. IMO, you have simply displaced the Gospel.... and disagreed with Paul who stated that NO ONE is righteous, no not even one.... who insisted that he is the "CHIEF of sinners" (and thus, it seems, according to you - not a Christian and not in heaven).

What I reject is neglecting the Gospel.... what I reject is that Christless, Bloodless, Gospel-less religion.

tell me -what is my sin ? what sin have i sinned which you speak of ?

1.You lie. saying you no longer sin.
2.You condemn us under the law like the hypocritical Pharisee.
3.You claim forgiveness for yourself and deny it to us.
4. You falsely accuse us of sinning when you don't know anything about us.
5 . Pride oozes out of your posts, so you really need to check that before you fall.
6. You deny us the grace that caught your own fallen soul.
7. What you are driving at is you want to take credit for our salvation. Sorry Jesus saved me years ago.

What I can't understand is why you feel the need to preach sin rather than grace?Jesus has saved us brother. Now if you really want to edify your already save and delivered from sin sisters and brothers, drop the sin bit, and start showing grace.

No one who is in Christ lives in perpetual sin. Our Lord Jesus' blood has cleansed us. OUR SIN IS FORGIVEN , OUR SIN IS FORGIVEN , one more time OUR SIN IS FORGIVEN.
His blood is enough. It is enough to save us. It is enough to keep us saved.

It is forgiven and Christ is our answer but to say that we do not sin we lie. We must trust in Christ to deliver us from sin but we also have to make every effort to not sin, If you continue in the same sins then you have not truly repented and that sin is unforgiven. Our walk with Christ is progressive as we strive toward the mark of the high calling

Yes. We trust the correction given by the Holy Spirit within us to lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil.

Do you think that verse pertains to everyone who says they believe in Christ?

Or do you think it pertains to those who seal out the direction of God without seasing?

Works are a byproduct of Faith. Any other type doesn't please God.

Does it not say to be doers of the word and not only hearers?

Faith in selfless Unity for Good.
